1. Mossimo Ruched Sweaterdress ($30) // 2. J.Crew Stretch Perfect Shirt ($72) // 3. Emerald Amazon Pendant ($36) // 4. Marc Jacobs Chrono Watch ($275), By the Horn Bracelet ($39) and Gorjana Camilla Ring Set ($55) // 5. Zara Suede Leather High Heel Boot ($119) // 6. Danielle Nicole Adeline Satchel ($98)

This week’s outfit comes from Jenny at Plog-Style.  Her ensemble mixes business casual staples with on-trend accessories to create an outfit that is great for business casual days.

One. Simple sweater dresses in neutral colors are a wardrobe staple for me.  This inexpensive Mossimo dress is a great place to start.  If you want something not from Target, try this Michael Stars dress with a Cashmere blend or this Ann Taylor sweater dress with a black colorblock-accent.

Two. Crisp cotton shirts never go out of style, and this J.Crew shirt comes in all of the classic colors.  I also like Brooks Brothers and Banana Republic for tailored shirts (both offer petite sizes).  Plus-size?  Jones New York seems to offer a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Three. I wanted to add a punch of color, so I chose this green necklace.  If you want a bit of color, but not quite as much, this chain statement necklace from Lori’s Shoes has a mix of green and neutrals.

Four. If you don’t like the idea of layering skeins of bracelets or piles of rings, you can make a bit impact with a handful of substantial pieces.  For the outfit, the blogger chose a chunky watch, a gold bangle and a gold cigar ring.  If you’d like a chunky watch that costs under-$75, try this Boyfriend Watch from MKL.

Five.  I’m not crazy about lace-up boots.  These sleeker Zara boots with a tie-front are much more my style.  If you want a modern look with a simple style, Zara also has this elastic boot with a peaked front.

Six. I wanted a bag with a small metal accent, and this Danielle Nicole bag fit the bill.  I like the shape because it’s structured without being stuffy.

Concerned about keeping the blouse looking sleek underneath the dress?  I would probably add a pair of Spanx to keep things smooth and in place.  Or you could add a pair of opaque black tights and accomplish the same effect.

I don’t own any Spanx but have been wanting a pair to wear with my clingier sweater dresses. Is it better to get the slip style or shorts style? Is one style better than others with dresses?

I like the shorts style, but don’t buy the new girl shorts with the smooth satin material. They roll up and it.is.annoying. You want the power panty or whatever it’s called.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
