October’s Six Amazing Beauty Finds

1. Jimmy Choo Exotic ($88).  I’m not really a fragrance person.  Most scents give me a terrible headache, which is why I stick to the few Fresh perfumes that don’t.  But last month, I was at Sephora with a friend when the clerk encouraged us to try this limited edition fragrance from Jimmy Choo.

It’s a vibrant mix of black currant, grapefruit, tiger orchid and passion-flower.  It reminds me of the since-discontinued Michael Kors scent that I wore in college.  It’s a great fall scent.

2. Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick ($28).  All the richness of a gloss with the pigment and look of cream lipstick.  I purchased the aubergine color, it’s a medium-bodied berry shade.  If you want something similar, the closest drugstore color I could find was Ulta Basically Berry.

3 and 4. Josie Maran Light Argan Oil ($48) and Pure Truth Activating Oil ($45).  My skin has dried out a bit with the change of seasons, so I’ve been trying to breathe some life back into it.  Applying layer after layer of moisturizer doesn’t seem to help, and it’s clogging my pores.  So I restocked some tried and true facial oils.

I’ve been using the light oil during the day and the Ole Henriksen oil at night.  It just takes a little bit of oil and a few big glasses of water to rejuvenate my skin.  Need a less expensive facial oil?  Boots No. 7 makes a botanical oil that has gotten some good reviews.

5. Marc Jacobs Hi Shine Lacquer in Petra ($18).  I’ve tried a lot of grey polishes, and I’ve found a few that I like, but this glittery pewter is my favorite.  Perhaps, that’s why it’s been sold out every time I’ve gone into Sephora.  Luckily, it’s restocked online.

6. Obsessive Compulsive Creme Colour Concentrate ($20). I spent quite a bit of time at the makeup counter trying to find the perfect shade of shell pink that I could use to recreate this gorgeous, subtle look from Pinterest.  The Maybelline Color Tattoo was a bit too metallic, but this shadow in Pleasure Model is much better.  If you need a drugstore version, try Neutrogena Creaseproof Eyeshadow in Perfect Pink.

So what products caught your eye this month?

I’m looking for a new perfume and tried Jimmy Choo Exotic over the weekend-it’s amazing! Have you tried the Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey perfume? That one has been one of my favorites, but I’m now leaning towards the Jimmy Choo perfume.

I recently discovered Benefit’s “That Gal” foundation primer and I LOVE it. Benefit’s stupid product names always turn me off to the point that I don’t ever give them a chance, but I’ve found so many winners in the past few Sephora trips.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polishâ„¢ Hot Cloth Cleanser. Received it in my Birchbox and it is the most amazing cleanser I have ever used. I don’t frequently break out and normally do not have a very strict skin-care regime but OMG this stuff. My face has never felt softer and my skin more radiant. Instructions call for twice a day use but I have been pretty consistent with using it before bed or on days when I don’t wash my hair. Worth a shot if you follow the instructions!

Tom Ford lipstick in Bruised Plum. At $49 a pop, it had better deliver. And it does– lasting rich color, smooth application, hydrating and perfect for fall.

Why do you use the light vs regular (Josie Maran argan oil)? Thanks!

I find the regular leaves my combo skin a little greasy. The light is better.

I love the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick. Great choice! I got a sample from Sephora and am almost out of it. It is the perfect color for fall and winter. I am going to have to get another one soon!
