1. Iris & Ink Silk Satin Top ($95) 2. Skinny Railroad Cuff ($70) 3. Merona Plaid Blazer ($35) 4. Helmut Lang Wrap-effect Dress ($335) 5. Alexander Wang Silk Blend Top ($168) 6. Ivanka Trump Taryn Boot ($149) 7. Barbour Dever Longline Jumper ($137) 8. Ralph Lauren Newbury Satchel ($298) 9. Camila Beveled Ring Set ($95)

One. Silky are great layering pieces for heavier jackets.  I would wear this crimson one with a camel blazer, like this one from Jones New York.  You could also buy one to workhorse at holiday parties with pencil skirts and tuxedo pants.

Two. This railroad cuff is a tougher take on the Cartier Juste en Clou bracelet.  It would look great in a stack of other bracelets.  But if you prefer the soft Cartier look, you can steal it for $25 with this Nico bracelet.

Three. This plaid jacket from Target anchors this entire set with its mix of red, navy and white.  It would obviously pair well with jeans, but you could also dress it up with navy slacks.  I could also see it working with a navy blouse and grey trousers.

Four. A wrap-effect dress has all of the body-slimming, curve-enhancing power of a wrap dress without the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction.  I found this navy long sleeve number from Adrianna Papell and this gorgeous Michael Kors faux-wrap with bar closure, both under-$150.

Plus-size?  I love this inexpensive Charter Club dress with 3/4 sleeves.  Petite?  This under-$50 faux-wrap from Amy Byer has a sash, but I’d chuck it for a wide belt.

Five. This long silky tunic reminds me of this more expensive Halston piece that I’ve been eyeing.  It would look great work over leather-accented leggings or grey skinny jeans.

Six. Chunky heel, ankle boots ended up on my “must-have list” for fall.  Not sure how.  But maybe I hit my head at some point.  Regardless, these are a chic and reasonably priced choice.  I also like these Wallis boots that have no embellishments ($70) for a more relaxed look.

Seven. Sometimes the ‘Ask Belle’ questions put dangerous thoughts in my head.  The ivory sweater dress question from last week has me craving one.  Big time.

This Barbour dress is a great option from a classic brand.  I also like this Ralph Lauren dress with a cool weave.  And if you need something under-$100, I like the flirty skirt on this Victoria’s Secret dress.

Eight. I am still positively smitten with this red Lauren bag.  I think I like it better than my J.Crew Biennial Satchel because it has more structure.  And who doesn’t need more structure in her life?

Still out of your price range?  Try this lipstick-red Lulu Guiness Dome Satchel for under-$100.

Nine. A set of thin gold rings can be stacked on a single finger or worn on several.  I like the geometric cut of these Gorjana rings, but if you need something less expensive, there are some lovely pieces on the market.  These wire stacking rings from Kate Spade are $25, and Asos has a pack of many rings for $20.

Can you show us how to wear some of these ankle boots? I just bought the crazy expensive Rag & Bone ones last night on Nordie’s website. I’d appreciate any advice.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
