Happy Hour: Packing a Punch

This week’s recipe is from Garden & Gun magazine, which is here to teach the Yankees how to make a proper Southern punch.  (Hint: Add more liquor than most people would think prudent and serve it in a lovely crystal bowl.)  With flavors of black tea and citrus and spirits like Rum, Bourbon and Cognac, this libation is good for the summer to fall transition.

Having a Labor Day get together?  I think I just found your cocktail of choice.

Ann Taylor Crepe Full Skirt Dress ($70)

What is more suited to a Southern cocktail than a dress with a little swing in every step?  This full-skirted dress is a great choice for the waning days of summer.

I like this slimmer cap-sleeve dress from Ralph Lauren and this blue and white print Plenty dress.  This Carmen Marc Valvo dress with modern styling and leather trim caught my eye.  But my favorite is this Rebecca Taylor dress with a sheer panel in the bodice.

Plus-size ladies check out this cobalt number with wide straps from Modcloth.  Petites have a look at this sleeveless, black, piped dress from Loft.

Happy Hour

I know something I’m going to get my mom for Christmas – a subscription to Garden & Gun. On second thought, why even wait til Christmas; I’ll make this a ‘just because’ gift.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
