Clarisonic Mia 2 ($150)

My adoration for the sonic cleansing power of the Clarisonic is well documented. So what would a birthday freebie extravaganza be without a Clarisonic giveaway? Luckily, for one lucky reader, we’ll never know.

This week’s anniversary giveaway is for a Clarisonic Mia 2 in the color of the winner’s choice.  This sonic cleansing brush will take your skincare routine from good to awesome in one quick rotation.  You just need to find the right brush for your skin type (I need the acne one, obvi) and you too can enjoy the benefits of impeccable cleansing and gentle exfoliation.

Since this device is all about cleansing, it seems only right that the theme of this giveaway be cleaning.  To enter, leave a comment answering this question: What is your least favorite chore?  (For me, it’s folding laundry, has been since I was old enough to take clothes from the dryer.)

Don’t forget to use your real e-mail address to log-in, and not to reply to anyone else’s comments (it throws off the count).  One entry per person, winner will be chosen on Friday night.  Good luck!

Washing dishes by hand. Since moving to an apartment without a dishwasher after having one for 2.5 years, I dread it. I miss having a dishwasher!

    Ironing

  388. Emily says:

Washing pans – the crusty ones you have to soak and scrub forever. Thanks for all of the work you put into this!

Dusting is the worst. In college I lived by a set of train tracks, and I could never keep up with it.

  407. Celeste says:

    Cleaning the bathroom. Yeccch.

  408. Trezlen says:

Ironing is the worst! That and taking the trash out.

  410. Monica says:

I have always hated mopping, it is the filthiest “cleaning” task ever.

  411. Cheryl says:

Scrubbing the tile in my shower. No matter what cleaner I use, I always feel like I’m just smearing soap scum around.

  412. Ann says:

Loading the dishwasher. I recite this poem in my head, “Thank God for dirty dishes. They have a tale to tell. While others may go hungry, we’re eating pretty well. With home, health and happiness I should not want to fuss, by the stack of evidence God’s been very good to us.”

  413. Denise says:

That’s a tough one, it’s really about choosing the greater of two evils (or many evils as the case may be). I used to despise vacuuming, and I still kind of do, but I have a good vacuum cleaner so it doesn’t seem as bad. Judging by the frequency of telling myself that I “should” do a task, taking out the recycling is my current nemesis. Even though the trashroom is like 2 doors down from my apartment. Doing the dishes, especially after having made 7 dirty dishes to feed just me.

  430. Megan says:

Dishes, with folding laundry a close second. The only thing I hate more than these chores is dreading these chores – I’d much rather suck it up and do them as opposed to putting them off and watching as the task mounts. I’m sure this is the only reason these things get done regularly in our house.

Unloading the dishwasher. THE WORST. Maybe just due to the fact that with 4 people in our house, it has to happen everyday!

Folding lundry and putting them away!

  445. Sarah M. says:

Taking the garbage out. It’s disgusting and it’s a never ending process.

  446. Hyun says:

    Scrubbing the bathtub!

  447. Becky says:

Vacuuming — up and down the stairs and trying not to knock into walls and furniture. So frustrating.

  448. natalie hikel says:

Putting my folded clothes away. It always seems an impossible task to get them from the laundry basket into my drawers.

  449. Amanda says:

For me it has to be using a dustpan after I sweep – it seems like I can never get the pile of dirt from the floor into the dustpan, and I hate seeing the hard work of sweeping go to waste, so I always end up digging out the duct tape to pick up the leftovers.

  450. Autumn says:

Dusting! Ugh…seriously can it get any worse than stirring up dust!?!

  451. Meredith says:

Oh boy, my least favorite chore is scrubbing dishes.

  452. Lauren says:

For me, I think the absolute worst is trying to fold sheets. My grandmother has ironed hers for years and they come out looking so pretty… mine just get sloppily thrown into the closet.

  453. Meg says:

I hate cleaning the bathroom. Harsh chemicals, toxic fumes, plus untold damage to my nails and hands.

  457. Megan says:

Washing the dishes after they’ve been in the sink a couple of hours (or days). Yuck!

  458. Leslie V. says:

My least fav chore would be putting the laundry away … I don’t mind washing, and I have found a way to get through the folding – by saving up my favorite TV shows on On Demand and folding during that time, but getting things put back in their places in the drawers and closets gets me every week!! ;)While we are at it — i don’t particularly enjoy the bathrooms either but i think that falls under a necessary evil!

Thanks for the chance to win I’ve been wanting to try this product forever!!!

  459. SW says:

I really don’t mind most chores EXCEPT for cleaning the toilet — yuck!

  460. execbranch says:

    Cleaning toilets. The worst.

  462. AV says:

LAUNDRY, LAUNDRY, LAUNDRY … my poor reading chair has becomes a second closet twice a month until I get my act together and put all the clean cloths away.

  463. JP says:

Everything EXCEPT laundry. I actually love the sorting & folding – I find it calming (call me crazy!?) but toilets and dirty dishes? Now that’s a sure bet for a bad mood.

  464. Nicole says:

Joining in the anti-dishes group. I think it’s a result of growing up in a large family without a dishwasher. Doing the dishes took forever.

  465. KM13 says:

Changing out and cleaning the cat litter boxes-such a pain!

  466. Ann says:

Changing fitted sheets is the bane of my existence.

  467. Lindsay W says:

Ironing. I’m horrible at it so it takes me 3x longer than any normal person to do it.

  468. RBY1125 says:

    folding the bottom sheet!

  469. Emily says:

Dishes – especially big pots and pans that won’t fit in the dishwasher and have food stuck to them.

  470. Kristen S. says:

Drying and putting away dishes. After washing them all by hand in a one-tub sink I wish they would just put themselves away.

  471. Katie says:

Making my bed, especially when you have to change out sheets and pillowcases. The. Worst.

  472. Katie says:

Making the bed, especially when you have to change out sheets and pillowcases. The. Worst.

  473. Julz says:

Dusting! I’m so allergic that sometimes I think it’s best to just let it be rather than stir it up by dusting. I also hate cleaning the toilet. Gross!

  474. CR says:

No dishwasher in my apartment, so yeah, washing the dishes wins. I hate it so much I actually just use paper plates 75% of the time. Unfortunately, no one has invented disposable pots and pans yet, so I’m stuck with those.

Emptying the silverware from the dishwasher. Not the plates, glasses or anything else — just the silverware!

  476. Susan says:

  478. Jessica says:

Absolutely HATE dusting. I can never keep up with it,especially with a very fluffy animal in my apartment. ugh.

  479. Michelle says:

Ironing. Definitely ironing. It’s hot, it’s tiring, it takes way too long, and I’m never any good at it! I always seem to iron IN more creases than I iron OUT!

  480. SM says:

    Unloading the dishwasher!!

  481. kate says:

Washing the mattress pad and duvet cover – which I do at the same time because I hate doing both. Just too much fabric in the washing machine and I can’t make the bed again until they’re both done, it’s overwhelming somehow.

  482. I also hate laundry! But, on the bright side, I have a big enough wardrobe that I can get away with only doing it once a month or so. (Seriously…it’s when I run out of underwear when I finally make myself do it.)

My solution to putting things away though has been to just hang everything in my closets. It feels faster, and I like being able to look at all my clothes!

  483. BP says:

I absolutely hate vacuuming and cleaning out the fridge.

  484. Karen says:

I haaaaaate taking out the garbage. Fortunately, my husband has other chores he hates that I don’t mind, so splitting them up isn’t that unpleasant after all.

I hate washing the sheets and then having to make my bed! It seems to take up so much time (when in reality, I’m sure it’s really not THAT long) haha.

Any kind of floor cleaning: mopping, sweeping, vacuuming. Ugh, kill me now.

  498. S says:

Vacuuming hands down, I’m too sensitive to noise. Plus it’s the only chore you can’t do while playing music.

  499. Jamielin says:

My least favorite chore has got to be mopping the floor (especially with 3 dogs who love playing in puddles!).

  519. Emily says:

I hate vacuuming with a passion.

  520. Alex says:

Making the bed. Not pulling up the covers and arranging the throw pillows…stripping off the sheets and putting new ones on: pulling the fitted sheet, so it fits on each corner; tucking the flat sheet evenly; adding the blanket… I’d rather sit on the pile of blankets and pout (and usually do!)

  521. Sheri says:

I don’t dust nearly as often as I should, but I don’t hate it. No, hatred is reserved for cleaning the shower.

It’s a toss-up between dishes and the bathtub.

I don’t have a dishwasher, so everything must be washed by hand. Confession: I use a lot of disposable stuff to avoid this chore.

Taking the garbage out of my super stylish, but impractically narrow trashcan.

  702. Caroline says:

    Cleaning the shower

  703. Katie says:

Also, those who hate mopping should invest in a steam mop – it makes life so much better.

  704. r says:

I absolutely hate cleaning out the gunk that gets stuck in the drain of the kitchen sink. I’m shuddering just thinking about it.

Cleaning the glass door of the shower. Stupid film. Just adds another layer of privacy…right?

Straightening other people’s things in the apartment. Especially all the wires from tech things! They never stay where you put them and always get tangled. 726. Samantha says:

Taking out the recycling, which requires going to a separate dumpster on the opposite side of the building from where the trash is disposed. Ugh.

  727. Katie says:

Right now my least favorite is laundry. I’m living for a year on a college campus, and having to take my laundry across campus and praying that my students don’t see me folding my underwear does not make for a very fun task.

  728. Sarah Beth says:

I know it’s gross, but I HATE having to remove the hair ball that forms in the shower drain. I don’t know about other people, but I have a ton of hair despite having a prolific ability to lose it in the shower. I also greatly dislike vaccumming and sweeping.

  737. Caylyn says:

Unloading the dishwasher is by far my least favorite chore.

  738. Jenn H. says:

sweeping!! I’ll mop, swiffer, and vaccum the s**t out of any flat serface in the house, but tell me I have to sweep something and it’s avoidance behavior central….

    cleaning out the refrigerator

I hate putting away the laundry…I actually enjoy doing it, sitting on my couch and folding it…I am even lazy enough to bring all of my hangers to the couch and hang everything up while watching a movie….but then the excitement stops. It will sit on my coffee table for days until I finally put it up. Don’t know why this is….

  747. SamW says:

I hate, HATE cleaning the dishes/pans. My fiance is the cook and not only does he use everything in the kitchen for each meal, he will let the dishes sit in their own filth in the sink and it makes me wince to stick my hand in there to sort and clean. Ugh.

Folding laundry is also my least favorite chore, but it’s an excuse for me to get caught up on old TV episodes at least!

  749. Lauren says:

Washing the sheets…the stripping, the quarter-finding, the hauling down to the laundry room, and then the inevitable battle with the duvet. It doesn’t help that the OCD part of me can’t handle it if I don’t do it at least once a week.

  750. Erica says:

Cleaning the bathroom is the absolute worst–living with only 1 other person makes it much more bearable than when it was a chore assigned by parents and the whole fam was using it…but still, and then it doesn’t even stay super clean that long.

    Folding laundry.

    Dusting. For sure. Its gross.

  761. Caitlin says:

I’m not sure why, but I have a strange aversion to vacuuming. Between the exertion and the feeling that it’s never done perfectly, it’s too much for me. I’d rather clean the kitty litter or do the dishes any day.

Putting away laundry! I don’t mind the actual sorting, washing, etc- but putting it away is miserable.

Doing dishes and taking out the trash are the worst!

  773. Mary says:

  774. Lindsey says:

Vacuuming, although, fortunately for me, someone was kind enough to give me a Roomba a few years back. Pushing the button doesn’t seem nearly so bad.

  775. Clare says:

The Every. Single. Day. Vacuuming that comes with being part of the Golden Retriever Rescue Group I’m a member of, which means we not only adopt abandoned and abused Goldens but at any given time we are fostering one or more for the group while they are trying to find them a what’s called “forever home” that’s suitable for these sweet babies. Who I LOVE, don’t get me wrong, but Goldens shed year-round and have lots of hair and with hardwood floors you can’t miss the white-looking (why white? they’re reddish-gold) hair balls that look like tumbleweeds that gather under the dining room table, side tables, in corners…everywhere. I have to vacuum every day and to be honest twice a day would be better. EVERY day. Christmas morning, before Thanksgiving dinner, there is no off day. I have had a couple of mini-breakdowns where I laugh/cried to friends, “Why can’t we just have normal dogs who aren’t abused and pitiful and scared and don’t shed all the time?” I didn’t mean it. I love them. So there you go.

  776. KP says:

    I hate cleaning the bathtub.

  794. Emily says:

Vacuuming! But thankfully my husband does it… which leaves changing the sheets!

  795. Elizabeth says:

Vacuuming, for some reason! It’s heavy and loud; you have to move furniture around and it makes my ears ring lol. (It would make my month if I won this. Seriously)

I absolutely despise doing the dishes. I’ve been dishwasher free for three years (because of living in an apartment out of college) and can’t still seem to grasp the concept that they won’t do themselves.

  876. Marianne says:

Washing pots and pans. I don’t mind the dishes, just not the greasy pots and pans!

  877. Kate says:

Mine would be vacuuming. With a shedding cat, it seems like an exercise in futility.

  878. Nicole N. says:

Litter boxes make me want to get rid of my cat. . .

  879. Elizabeth says:

Cleaning the bathroom… I think I’m still scarred from my lifeguard days when I had to scrub down the public bathrooms each night.

  880. Megan says:

I hate doing dishes, largely because they are rarely “done.”

  881. Alex says:

I hate washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen in general

  882. Melissa says:

It’s a tie between washing dishes and dusting. With three dogs and a husband both feel like never ending chores!

  883. Christina says:

Any bathroom cleaning is definitely the worst!

  884. Emily says:

It has to be dusting- no matter what dust always reappears fast.

  885. Mathavi says:

    I REALLY dislike folding laundry!

  886. melissa says:

dishes. ever since i lived with a guy (not a boyfriend, just a male roommate) in a place with no dishwasher, dishes and i ARE NOT FRIENDS.

  887. WG says:

I am with you on the laundry folding. The worst!

  888. Samantha says:

Hands-down – cleaning the bath tub!

  889. Christine says:

Ugh, vacuuming is my absolute least favorite!

  890. Zarna says:

My least favorite chore is putting the fitted sheet back on the bed! I would love to find one person who doesn’t have trouble doing that by themselves haha

Would love to win this Clarisonic, been wanting one forever 🙂

  891. Lauren T says:

Definitely cleaning the bathroom and the bathtub especially!

  892. Carolyn says:

My least favorite chore would have to be doing the dishes. I LOVE cooking and eating but cleaning up afterward is no fun 🙁

  893. Shannon says:

My least favorite chore is mopping floors. 🙁

  894. S says:

Taking out the bathroom trash. But I do it, I swear!

  895. Kristen says:

Cleaning behind the toilet (you practically have to hug the sweaty commode, bleh!) and agree with the majority on putting away dishes

  896. Ruth says:

Dishes. I love cooking but hate cleaning up afterwards!

  897. TRES says:

Cleaning dusty floor areas behind large furniture that doesn’t get vacuumed often – and then finding a dead roach next to my dust-drowned favorite earring!

  898. Laurie says:

    Folding laundry is awful.

  899. Theresa says:

I really hate cleaning the bathroom. Maybe it’s because I think of it as the grossest room in the house, but I just dread doing it, and I hate it every moment I’m cleaning.

  900. Neshii S says:

I HATE folding clothes too. It’s annoying and boring.

  901. Aet says:

I despise ironing laundry, I really do.

  902. Anna Alburger says:

I hate dusting! Having to take the time to move everything out of its place just wipe the dust away in 1 second… it’s the worst!

  903. Sarah says:

Cleaning out the kitty litter. Pee-yew.

  904. Belle says:

Thank you for the entries. This giveaway is now closed.

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
