1. DvF Marielle Dress ($160) // 2.  Cornu Thin Shell Ring ($290)Tiny Circle Ring ($58) and bombom Dawn Ring ($200) // 3. Madewell Silk Peplum Tank ($70) // 4.  Suedette Mid-Court Pump ($39) // 5. Rebecca Minkoff Camera Bag ($195) // 6. Zara Combination Cardigan ($90) // 7. Chloe Crepe Pencil Skirt ($231)

One. Soft watercolor prints are the perfect choice for people who are “print shy.”  This DvF dress has a gorgeous mix of blues, purples, greys and black.  I like the way Ted Baker mixes colorblocking with a watercolor print in this dress.  This grey and white BCBG dress and this mockneck dress from Kohl’s.  And if you’re not crazy about dresses, I LOVE this boatneck top from Theyskens’ Theory and this skirt from Nurture.

Two. I never thought about combining rose gold with hues of pale blue, but it’s gorgeous.  The shell ring is brilliant, and the sliced mother-of-pearl ring is gorgeous.  I also fell hard for this moonstone and rose gold ring, though it is out of my price range, and I’ve long been a fan of this night-sky blue Folli ring for $200.

Three. Racerback + pleats + peplum?  Count me in.  I love the cut of the neckline on this top.  If you like it too, but aren’t crazy about the peplum, I like this pintuck racerback tank from 3.1 Phillip Lim and this Joie silk tank.

Four. The Loeffler Randall Tamsin Heel is one of my all time favorites.  These Dorothy Perkins shoes have the same low heel and angular shape.  Lovesit.

Five. Whether you’re a blogger or just love taking photos, a chic camera bag is a must.  I love the mix of periwinkle and sky blue on this Minkoff bag, which also comes in other colors like coral, emerald-green and black.  If you have a lot of equipment, she also makes a larger size.

Six. This slouchy jacket/cardigan with a dramatic collar is perfect for fall.  I love the moto look and the dark charcoal color.  I also found this black moto cardi from 525 America, which is reminiscent of this Helmut Lang stitch cardigan.  And this zip-up cardigan from Mossimo is a steal at $12.

Seven. Most women don’t think of ivory or white as fall/winter color.  But paired with black tights and chic tall boot, I wear my light wool skirt all winter long (non-seasonal fabrics, like cotton, don’t work as well).   I also found this ivory seasonless pencil from Pendleton that looks perfect for your winter wardrobe.  I’d wear it with this phenomenal teal boyfriend sweater from J.Crew.

The racerback peplum top is gorgeous! But lilac scares me. i want to embrace it but I’m not sure how to wear it without feeling like a little girl at Easter.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
