Massimo Dutti’s Pre-Fall Collection is Sublime

Jul 24, 2013

Massimo

From Left, Tie Print Shirt ($90) // Leather Detail Dress ($145) // Fringed Cape ($265) // Cream Dress ($145) // Flocking Top with Bow ($90)

Thanks to Olivia Pope, I’ve been loving muted neutrals and simple pieces this season and I’m sure my love for pretty, subtle things will carry into fall.  And if there is one store that I can count on to fulfill these needs it’s Massimo Dutti, Zara’s older sister.

I love the muted hues and clean shapes that they’re featuring for pre-fall.  I would happily own and wear all of these pieces.  I especially love the leather details and soft taupe on the dress at left and the tonal texture on the shirt at right.  The whole collection has me thinking that maybe color is overrated.

Also, the folks over at Zara are offering some lovely pieces for the summer to fall transition.  I especially love the knot-neckline on this dress and the soft mauve color of this tank.  This flowy maxi skirt is also a winner.  And this black and grey bowling bag?  To die for.

Can anyone speak to the sizing of Massimo Dutti? I love the look of Zara, but almost everything I’ve tried on has been too big.

    • Belle says:

They go for slouchier sizing, so in tops, I go down a size. For dresses, I usually have to have them taken in in the bust.

  2. Karrie says:

Looks way too casual to be taken seriously at work in. And kind of like H&M quality.

    • Belle says:

I’d happily wear the printed blouse or the cream dress or the cream top to the office. And I’ve been happy with the blouses I bought this spring. They’ve worn really well.

  3. Ginger R. says:

The DC area is a great climate for late summer/pre-fall wardrobes. With a heavier sweater/stockings/closed-toe shoes many of these things will be wearable through October.

  4. Hmmmm says:

Ever since a friend described a mutual acquaintance with, “Hello, I like beige.” I am scarred. Not feeling the colors. But for the cream dress I might make an exception.

  5. Julia S. says:

I love the looks – I’m continually looking for that “Olivia Pope” look on a “I’m a government employee” salary 🙂 But as gorgeous as the cream dress is – and I’d love a cream sheath – I’m reluctant to buy one until I can find one with a matching jacket (preferably a long jacket – love that look). My office is FREEZING in the summer, and you never know who is going to appear, so at my level, I need to have a jacket or blazer (occasionally a cardi but that’s a little casual for me). Ideas?

Another month has come and gone, and between a busy work schedule, illness and the search for new childcare, I almost forgot to ask for questions for the AMA.  Luckily, I remembered late last night.  So here we go. I always think it’s funny when people send rude or overly personal questions when I put […]

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
