Two Ways: Pink Suede Shoes

Shoes: Enzo Angiolini Dollton Pumps ($129)

From Left, Earrings: Bing Bang Bow Studs ($42) Bracelet: Max & Chloe Station Bangles ($42) Bag: Michael Kors Saffiano Tote ($378) Cardigan: Jackie Cardigan ($65 some colors on sale) Dress: Tara Jarmon White Sheath ($231)

From Right, Earrings: Rebecca Minkoff Heart Stone Drops ($58) Ring: Bernini Silver Band ($100) Belt: MMM 11 Belt ($115) Bag: Coach Legacy Harper ($798) Shirt: Max Mara Alinda Blouse ($386) Pants: 1035 Stretch Wool ($188)

For the Office.  I prefer to pair colored shoes with neutral separates.  However, if you’d like to pair these shoes with a colored dress, may I suggest eggplant purple?

If it’s a white sheath you’re after, the eyelet trim on this under-$100 Dillard’s dress is lovely.  If you’re plus-size, this piped sheath is a good choice.  And if you’re petite, check out this Calvin Klein belted dress.

I added a plain navy cardigan, but you could choose pale blue or aqua.  I contrasted the navy with turquoise-colored bangles, which pair nicely with the sharper edges of these fun bow earrings. I also like these mother-of-pearl and gold bow studs from Kate Spade.

Lastly, I added my favorite simple tote, the Saffiano Selma tote from Michael Kors.  If you’re looking for something less expensive, this top handle satchel with strap is a nice under-$100 choice.

For the hair, I would wear it down.  If you’re on the younger side, I might add a thin gold headband.  For the makeup, a pink lip and a rose blush would be lovely.

For the Office. I love to mix different shades of the same color.  Grey is the easiest color to do this with, I think.  This Max Mara blouse is a bit out of my price range, so I would probably choose this still-a-bit-pricey Theory blouse.

I’ve written about these pants before.  The 1035 trouser is the only non-denim pant I own.  I love them.  They have an easy fit and smooth-finish fabric.  My only complaint is that they’re not lined.  But since J.Crew hasn’t lined a pant in ten years, there’s no use in hoping.  If you’d like something less expensive, Express makes a decent pant for the money.

I decided to add a bit of teal with these art deco earrings from Rebecca Minkoff.  If deco isn’t your thing, I really like these faceted teal and silver hoops for $18.  And since it was tough finding a ring that wouldn’t clash with the earrings, I decided to go with a simple band.

Looking for a grey bag that won’t break the bank?  This Anne Klein dome satchel is sleek and simple, and a great buy at $66.  I also like the pierced leather work on the Kooba V bag for under-$50.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a simple updo, maybe a French twist.  For the makeup, I would use a charcoal eyeliner and a sheer plum lip color.

My favorite work trouser is the Theory Max, which is perennially available. It is lined and comes in heather and charcoal grey, as well as black and navy.

Love the outfit on the right. Very Olivia Pope!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
