Happy Hour: Rosemary, Watermelon Lemonade

Jun 21, 2013

Today, to celebrate the summer solstice, I chose a drink that is tangy, refreshing and alcohol-free.  What?!  If you need a cocktail after a long week, just add vodka.  Problem solved, but some of us are trying to cut back.  It is bikini season after all.  #sobrietycutscalories

This splendid rosemary, watermelon lemonade comes to us from the blog Savory Senses, and this woman is really on to something.  I’m actually planning to rework the recipe to freeze it in popsicle molds for a small gathering I’m having in a few weeks.  But if you just need a refreshing afternoon drink to sip on the patio, feel free to drink it straight.

Suzi Chin 3/4 Sleeve ($40)

6pm.com has become one of my favorite places to shop for inexpensive dresses. Look at all of these great dresses for under-$60?

This adorable striped dress is great for casual events or slightly dressier events, just change the shoes and the accessories.  And speaking of Suzi Chin, I am a huge fan of this gorgeous faux wrap with vibrant colors and pleated details.

I would happily wear this printed shirt dress on a casual Friday.  Looking for something bright and fun?  This orange, red and pink print certainly fits the bill.  And this cobalt blue sheath really caught my eye.

I’d use this dress from O’Neill as a swim cover-up.  This maxi dress is also great for casual days, and I like the tribal print on this faux-wrap dress.

Plus size?  6pm has a lot of dresses in plus sizes. I like this navy-and-white printed casual dress, and this white split neck sheath.  Petite? There are lots of great choices for you.  My favorites are this mint sheath and this white short sleeve dress.

Such a cute dress, I’m imagining it with a brightly colored skinny belt

I definitely don’t need any more summer dresses but I’d buy that if they had my size. Bummer.

6pm is kind of a roll of the dice – a fun site to browse to see what’s there.

yea, i used to order from 6pm but too many times was sent something completely different from what i ordered (small black north-face jacket? how about we send flip flops. the label even said small black north face jacket. when i called them to correct the problem i had a 2 week long customer service circus.

  5. (: Awesome to see that this drink is a hit on other patios other than mine! Love it.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
