10th Commandment: June 14

Jun 14, 2013

I spent over three weeks fighting a cold that refused to die.  As a result, I spent several days on my couch, wearing sweatpants.  And I have two rules for wearing sweats: 1) unless you are on your way to or from the hospital/doctor, the sweatpants do not leave the house, and 2) make sure they look nice and lounge-y, not schlumpy and frumpy.

I think it is acceptable to break the dont go out rule for exercise-I wear these-drapy ones-for my 2 mile daily walk-at 7am….. very few are around to see. Other than that I tend to agree with you-they are not really go out and be seen clothes.

  2. Joules says:

I agree that exercise is a good reason, but otherwise I think these are better for home. Good choices! I have a pair from Target that’s actually really good fit/quality.

I also leave the house in yoga pants or sweatpants to go to the gym. It’s 4 blocks from my apartment so rather than bringing clothes and changing at the gym, I just change at home and then walk over.

$128 for lounge pants? Come on. Even if you have oodles of disposable income, why would you spend that much?

  5. Katy says:

Belle- going to be spending some solid hospital time with my parents over the summer. Looking for outfits that are warm, comfy, easy, and send a message of “oh hey cute resident, I’m single and obviously a good person since I’m taking care of my parents”. Love these pants for a start, but on top? Are scarves the answer?

  6. Belle says:

Skip the sweat pants. You want jersey maxi dresses with a heavy material like the ones made by T-Bags. Add cardigans, scarves and jackets as needed. I wore leggings or long bicycle shorts under mine to fight off the AC. Hospitals are ALWAYS freezing.

    • Katy says:

Maxi dresses! I feel like a jigsaw puzzle has just slipped into place. Thank you. Off to buy all the dresses.

Belle, which are your favorites, the Dreamy or the Lotus?

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
