Dress: Dorothy Perkins Broderie Dress ($69)

From Left, Ring: Trina Turk Orange Ring ($59) Bracelet: Ralph Lauren Hinge Bracelet ($58) Clutch: Sophie Hulme Clutch ($393) Shoes: Trump Ariell Pump ($75) Coat: Burberry Gabardine Trench ($1.895)

From Right, Earrings: Kit Heath Rings ($95) Belt: Kate Spade Bow Belt ($68) Bag: Coach Legacy Haley ($358) Sweater: J.Crew Jackie Cardi ($55) Shoes: Nine West Drusilla ($79)

For Cocktails.  Why a trench in June?  Because a white dress and the potential for rain do not mix.  This Burberry is my dream trench, but I think my first car cost less than that, so how about this less expensive J.Crew Trench (my favorite) or this London Fog, instead?

I absolutely adore this orange clutch, sadly, it’s sold out.  However, this Banana Republic tube clutch or this under-$50 faux leather clutch are good options as well.  And since we have an orange clutch, we need an orange ring to pull it all together.  If this one is out of your price range, this inexpensive faceted stone ring is nice too.

The pierced leather on this sandal is chic and summery.  Though the heel might be a bit high for me.  I also like these tan shoeboots, but decide they would be better for the fall.

For the hair, I would wear it down, provided the weather cooperates.  If not, up in a low twist.  For the makeup, I would wear a rose blush and some sable eye shadow and brown liner.

For the Office.  A belted cardigan over a sundress is a great choice for recess days when you have meetings or casual Mondays.  If you work in a less conservative office, this is a summery outfit that can brighten your mood on a dreary work day.

I like the mix of navy and yellow for this outfit.  You can wear the belt over the top if you need structure or underneath for color and definition.  If yellow isn’t your thing, and you would rather have a neutral, try this dark tan skinny belt with a bow.  If you’d rather wear your color in the cardigan, I like this deep emerald from Gap.

Coach is really hitting the mark with their legacy collection.  I love this bag, and the Candace, and the Tanner, and the huge Weekender.  Frankly, they’re all great.  I vastly prefer them to the fabric totes.  And if you sign up for Coach’s website, they send you 20-percent-off coupons every so often.

The earrings for this outfit might be my favorite thing in the whole set.  I love the delicate wire work and the scale of them.  I selected them over these Bittar hoops, and I think I made the right choice.  You could also go with simple pearls.

For the hair, I would wear it half-up/half-down with a wave if you can manage it.  For the makeup, I think a pink gloss and highlighter on the brow bone would be nice.

I’m debating an LLBean trench for myself next year. They have removeable hoods and linings, and they come in more colors. Just wish it self belted. I may get a tall and have the extra made into a belt.

Love these looks! I splurged on a Burberry trench a few years ago, and it really was completely worth it…and I also made the mental used car comparison! 🙂

These are great looks. I’d say that if you want a Burberry trench for less the BR Classic Trench is a great option. I got mine on sale for only about $100 dollars and I really love it.

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
