1. Perdis Emerald City Eyeshadow ($28) // 2. Zara Mid Court Heels ($80) // 3. Clarinet Detail Dress ($320) // 4. Water Masai Earrings ($132) // 5. 3.1 Philip Lim Overlapped Side Seam T-shirt ($250) // 6. Carven Jacquard Skirt ($635) // 7. Topshop Wrapped Maxi Skirt ($190) // 8. Deco Quartz Ring ($595) // 9. Juicy Leopard Sunnies ($120) // 10. Kevyn Aucoin Cloudaine Lip Gloss ($27)

One. I went searching for an emerald eye shadow a few weeks ago, and finding one with a lot of pigment that didn’t look like clown makeup was not easy.  This Napoleon Perdis shadow was my favorite, but loose powder isn’t for everyone.  I ended up with this NYX cream eyeshadow.  Also, when wearing bold eye color, it helps to use a white eye primer.  The white base helps bring out the color.

Two. Zara never fails to sell the most stylish, mid-price shoes.  I love the sheer panels on these.  I also like the scallop and mesh detail on these French Connection pumps, and these awesome sheer evening pumps (such a cool shape).

Three.  I’m all about sleek, simple dresses, and this Reiss number is perfection.  I also like this slash neck sheath and this dress with ruffle sleeves would be good for after work occasions.  This Ella Moss shift with short sleeves and a side peplum is also quite lovely.

Four.  I adore these faceted earrings in the shape of water droplets.  They also come in a pretty rose gold.  I’ve never seen anything quite like them.

Five.  I’m generally not a fan of the high-low hem.  However, tops that are longer in the back do have their benefits, additional coverage of the rear view chief among them.  I love this Philip Lim top, but it’s pricey.  The Limited makes a similar style, and this Marc Jacobs slub jersey tee is fantastic too.

Six.  This jacquard fit and flare skirt is just phenomenal.  I love the dusty, celadon green hue.  If it’s the shape you’re after, the NY & Co. skirt is very similar, as is this dot flounce skirt.  And if jacquard is your desire, this Vera Wang for Kohl’s skirt is cool and Banana Republic has a geometric pencil skirt.

Seven.  This tulip-shaped maxi-skirt is different from most of the ones I’ve seen, so I thought I’d add it to the set.  It would look great with a black, silk racerback tank and a black sandal.  If you prefer a pleated maxi, this Sabine skirt is my favorite and this Target skirt comes in regular sizes and petites.

Eight.  This black quartz ring is so chic.  It reminds me of this Atelier Minyon ring that I love so hard.  For a less expensive alternative, try this onyx-colored ring, this three stone smoky quartz ring or this shiny, faceted quartz ring.

Nine.  These sunglasses from Juicy Couture are kind of fun and different.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pair that has a pattern on top and solid on bottom.  I also love these light-colored Tory Burch cat eyes and these Karen Walker tortoise sunglasses have a cool shape.

Ten.  A friend of mine turned me onto this rich lip color and I am so in love with it.  It looks so bold in the pan, but its color is light and buildable.  Looking for a similar color at the drugstore, try this Color Girl lip balm in Berry Twist.

How do we feel about the slit on the slash-neck sheath? Does it take it out of the realm of work-wear? I love the neckline.

    • Belle says:

I think the length is very professional, I don’t think the slit is too high. And remember, she’s posing to expose the slit. So I think you could wear that to work.

  2. Love the topshop maxi. Looks super versatile and right on trend.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
