Tahari Walking Coat ($138)

Trench coats are a spring staple.  They’re classic, chic and pull together any outfit.  But if you already have a trench, why not add a light coat in a modern shape to your closet?

This walking coat from Tahari has a swingy, modern shape and an effortless chic.  I also like this colorblock Tahari coat with a touch of one of spring’s hottest shades, yellow.  If you like the idea of color, this Kristen Blake coat comes in a vibrant cobalt, or black for the more subdued lady.

Not ready for a walking coat because you still need a basic trench?  If you recently hit the lotto or are one of those women who save up for a year for a special purchase, the Burberry trench is the classic.  Coach also makes a solid trench in a lower, but still pricey range.  Looking for a lower price point?  London Fog and Victoria’s Secret are great places to start, and if you are looking for a colored trench, they have those too.

Plus size? London Fog has you covered for inexpensive trench coats as well.

It’s still a little early for spring coats to be hitting the market, but as they start to trickle in, keep a lookout for these swingy shapes.

Belle, what do you think of this trench in mint? I can't decide if it's too bright or not: https://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/prod/Apparel/Outerwear/The-NY-Trench-Banded-Hem

Cute! Sadly, I already have two spring trenches and a third would be ridiculous.

I'd also suggest consignment stores – I got a gorgeous Burberry walking coat for $175 at one outside of Boston. It can be hit or miss, but if you are patient you can strike gold.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
