Lydia Abstract-Print Blouse (Banana Republic, $80)

I own a couple of collarless silk blouses and I love them.  I’m always surprised by how versatile they are.  I wear them under blazers, with scarves and with pencil skirts.

I like this one because it has a bold, but not overpowering print.  It also comes in two great colors for fall: wine and charcoal grey.  It could be a great addition to your wardrobe.

Looking for the same thing for less?  This ivory blouse has just a hint of sparkle for $29.  If color is your thing, this Silence & Noise blouse comes in several colors for $40.  Plus size?  Old Navy has a few choices in some lovely colors.

Belle – from your experience how does the BR sizing run? True, a little large, a little small. especially in blouses.

  2. A says:

The BR blouse isn't silk. Kind of expensive for polyester.

  3. Belle says:

A: Even expensive designers aren't using silk anymore. I tried on a Theory blouse the other day and was shocked by how little silk was in the blend. Even Oscar de la Renta is using synthetic blends to save money now, so I'm not going to fault a company that makes mid-price clothes for not splurging on the good stuff.

T: Not as vanity-sized as J.Crew. I usually buy my true size, and sometimes that's just a hair too big.

  4. KLC says:

Thanks for including something for plus size! It is always difficult to find items that are 1. Fashionable, 2. in my size and 3. In a moderate price point!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
