Happy Hour: Sparkle and Fade

Sep 21, 2012

When I’m writing a Happy Hour post, I usually choose the cocktail first.  But sometimes, a dress just speaks to me, and I have to find a cocktail to go with it.

Adrianna Papell Beaded Blouson Dress (Nordstrom, $238)

This is such a dress.

It’s so simple and elegant.  I love that it has sequins, but it’s not too sparkly for a 30-year-old woman.  And I’m a sucker for dove grey, so what’s a girl to do?

Find a cocktail, and write a post!

Pear and lemon is not a combination that I would have thought of, but this cocktail from Martha Stewart sounds incredible.  It combines lemon verbena, pear vodka, citrus flavors and champagne to create a sparkling beverage.  I will definitely be making this once I figure out where to buy verbena leaves.

I dare to answer the question “What's a girl to do?”…Buy it for your Mother and then we can share it!!! This dress is ageless (depending on that fitness thing) and timeless. Beautiful!

That dress screams “Lady Mary” to me (NO DOWNTON SPOILERS FROM THE NEW SEASON, please) – therefore: https://www.thekitchn.com/downton-abbey-cocktails-mary-166557

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
