1. Brahmin Vivian Dome Satchel ($295) and BCBG Iman Wood Clutch ($178) // 2. Kohl’s Abalone Cuff Bracelet ($13) // 3. Lancome L’Absolu Nu Lipstick Midnight Roses ($30), Butter London Branwen’s Feather ($14), NARS Douceurs de Paris Palette ($55) // 4. T by Alexander Wang Twist Front Dress ($150) and Viktor & Rolf Peacock Draped Dress ($1,060) // 5. Jessica Elliott Clover Chain Necklace ($100)
One. Like many women, I have a basic black and a basic brown handbag, so I’m always looking for something a little different. I love the metallic accents on this dome satchel. The clutch has metal and wood accents making it a handbag-slash-conversation piece. Either of these bag would make a wonderful addition to your wardrobe if you’re looking to branch out.
Two. I’ve developed a real thing for abalone–the purple, green and blue hues are right up my alley. I own this House of Harlow pendant, and I’m obsessed with this Judith Jack ring. This bracelet from Kohl’s is an inexpensive way to add a hint of abalone to your wardrobe.
Three. Plum and berry shades are hot makeup colors for fall. This deep berry lip color and its dark aubergine counterpart were taken straight from the NYFW Fall 2012 runway. If you want to try this trend but don’t want to invest in a $30 lipstick, Revlon Super Lustrous Black Cherry and Raspberry Bite have similar hues for $8.
Dark purple polishes are lovely for autumn. Branwen’s Feather from Butter London is a super dark shade that has a black and purple sheen like a raven’s feather. (See it on someone’s nails, here.) Want a shade that’s more purple and less black? NARS Purple Rain is a shimmering true purple, while NARS Tokaido Express is a plum with hints of burgundy.
If you’re looking for the perfect autumn eye-shadow palette, look no further. This six-shade palette from NARS has shimmering copper, warm mocha, deep plum and an ashy mauve. And don’t forget the primer to keep those gorgeous colors from running, creasing and feathering.
Four. These dresses have pleats and twists and that add interest with a classic element that will never go out of style. This Viktor & Rolf is WAY out of my price range, but ASOS has a brightly colored knock-off for under-$100. It’s tough to tell whether it’s a work appropriate length from the photo, but the pleated collar is an exact replica.
As for the Alexander Wang jersey dress, if you’re not feeling the grey dress, it also comes in a gorgeous sapphire blue. And if you’d prefer something with sleeves, this grey twisted dress with elbow-length sleeves is just $59.
Five. The yellow jade cut stone and mix of gunmetal and gold make this necklace a true statement piece. Love the clover shape, but prefer something a bit daintier? Privileged NYC has a single clover pendant on a delicate gold chain that’s sure to please.
And with that awesome abalone cuff, I officially have purchased my first Christmas gift of 2012! Thanks, Belle, my sister will adore it.
i am in love with that viktor & rolf dress. and usually i'm not their biggest fan. but i love that!
Just bought my birthday present…That Brahmin bag was calling my name!
I bought this Anne Klein top on sale a few weeks ago, and really like it. It has similar pleating to the Viktor & Rolf dress.
Belle, I love these posts. With the change in seasons coming up and new trends settling in, lots of folks do some fall/winter shopping- analogous to back-to-school shopping for grown-ups, perhaps. It would be so interesting if you did a post on what you plan on buying for fall/winter this year–especially because you already have a closet of good staples and these would be fun or add-on pieces.
