Leopard Skimmer (Madewell, $135)

I purchased these shoes in April.  I received them last week.  Not a ringing endorsement of Madewell, but I can honestly say that the shoes were worth it.  They are fantastic.

Leopard is a great way to breathe life into black or brown separates, add a bold accessory to colorful outfits and jazz up a pair of jeans.  If you like the look of a leopard flat but want to pay under-$100, I found this pair from Steve Madden ($89) and this pair from Nine West ($79).

Looking for something more casual? Try the hot-hot-hot loafer style shoe in cheetah print ($40, limited sizes) or in a black and white leopard print ($50).

Check back at 1:00PM for Two Ways to wear this shoe.

I love Madewell, but their customer service is so horrid I just stopped shopping there. I love these shoes, though. I may have to go back and get just these.

  2. Jen says:

Mine just arrived this week too. It was worth the ridiculous backorder.

  3. BB says:

How do these run, i.e., small, too large, just right? Are they comfy?

  4. Emily says:

For a less expensinve option, I just purchased these at Payless and they are adorable.

They will ship to your local store for free. The shoes run a hair big, but nothing a heel insert won't fix. Very comfy and quite the bargain! 🙂

  5. meg says:

these are definitely at the top of my list for fall

  6. Belle says:

BB: Not sure on comfort yet. I only wore them for 20 minutes in my kitchen. Sizing seemed to be right though.

  7. J says:

Belle, is there any toe cleavage? (I don't wear JCrew flats because too much toe cleavage – have always wondered about Madewell.) Thanks!

  8. Claire says:

I have these in python and I love love love them. I've had them for a few weeks, and they're pretty comfy after breaking them in over a couple of wears. I do have noticeable toe cleavage- but then again, I have pretty long toes so your mileage may vary.

  9. Krista says:

I have the black and white Gap ones. I LOVE them.

  10. Kay says:

Also in the intern price range are these from Rocket Dog ($36.95)

    https://www.dsw.com/shoe/rocket+dog+chamay+flat?prodId=253604&category=cat20068&activeCats=cat10006,cat20068

They've got a great pointed toe, but they definitely need a Dr. Schol's insert!

  11. R says:

Belle, I bought the round toed steve madden leopard flats, at your blog's suggestion, last fall and fell in love! Over many wears, the hair has worn off around the edges on the inside side of the shoe, presumably from my feet hitting each other while walking. Any recommendations on how to prevent this with pony-hair type shoes? thanks!

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
