Polyvore Set Here.

For the Office. I broke down and ordered a pair of colored skinny trousers today.  I have a black pair, but I put the brightly hued pairs in these sets so frequently that it felt like time to own some.  On a related note, after a three month hiatus, it’s finally time to go back to the gym and restart Operation Fight Secretary Spread.

The red pants are such a bold choice, but classic when paired with the sailor tee.  I wanted to add a bit more color, but I didn’t want to overwhelm things, so I chose a cobalt purse.  Clearly, my blue period continues in some measure.

The shoes are fabulous.  They are also surprisingly comfortable.  I’d had my eye on the pink pair for awhile, and since I was returning a a dress to J.Crew anyway, I thought that was a good way to use my exchange.  The pink ones are fabulous, but I think I need the nude too since I’ve already worn the pink three times in six days.

I like big sunglasses for summer.  Just about anyone can wear them, but it’s all about the shape you choose.  I look like an alien from planet fashion victim in round ones, the square are much more flattering.

For the hair, I’d wear it down.  I’d probably wave it, if I thought it would hold in the hair-killing humidity we’re currently having.  For the makeup, I’d probably wear a red gloss.  I mean, why not?  Go big or go home, I always say.

For Sunday Brunch.  The skirt in this set is a pricey number from Tibi.  But since $330 seems like entirely too much to spend on a casual skirt, I found a similar one from Zara for $90 that is very nearly the same shade.  I bought a pleated skirt from them last season and wore it for months before the seam fell out, but I definitely got my $60 worth.

I would definitely tuck the tee into the skirt and belt over the band on the skirt.  I like the way the cognac woven belt picks up some of the orange hues in the skirt.  It’s also best to use a wide belt here because it can help with the illusion of looking taller.

The accessories are in my current favorite color combo: aqua and coral.  It’s very summer, and very festive.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a loose updo at the nape of the neck.  Very relaxed and casual with sideswept bangs.  For the makeup, I’d do a pop of coral blush on the cheeks and a complimentary lip stain.

Belle, I've also had my eye on the Sydney sandals at JCrew but have resisted getting them because of the price (have been looking for similar styles). Do you think they're a good investment in terms of shoe quality? Also, just out of curiosity, what colors have you been wearing with the neon pink shade?

Valerie-Navy and grey go well with them. I think they're pretty well made, but if you're hesitant, give it a few weeks. Almost everything at JCREW ends up on sale eventually.
