BPGP: Eradikate Acne Treatment

Mar 13, 2012

Today, I found myself in the rather awkward position of recommending a product that I have never tried and cannot use.  You see, every dermatologist that I have ever been to has recommended sulfur-based acne treatments to cure my problem skin.  The trouble is, I have an allergy to sulfur, an epi pen and hospital visits kind of allergy.  But that hasn’t stopped me from recommending a sulfur-based product to nearly every acne sufferer I know.

Eradikate by Kate Sommerville ($22 for the product, $55 for the kit)

The product is a drying potion.  You apply it before bed, using a Q-tip, to any forming or formed blemishes.  and you wake up the next morning with clearer skin.  Just be aware that you will be covered in spots like Mad Madam Mim attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes, at least until your skin starts to clear up.

As I mentioned, I’ve been recommending this product to friends.  Last week, a friend and I went to Sephora, and I practically shoved a bottle into her hand.  On Sunday, she emailed me the following message: “Eradikate = Awesomeness.”  That’s it, that’s all the email said.

You know a product is good when someone writes you an email first thing Sunday morning just to tell you that it’s awesome.

If you suffer from moderate to severe acne, especially cystic acne, you should give this product a try.  One word of caution, however, if you experience any swelling or itching, especially around the eyes, stop using the product immediately.  You may have an allergy.  Just like, poor, jealous me. Bah humbug.

Mario Badescu also has the same product for $18. I've used it for years and its amazing.

  2. EmZ says:

Does anyone that has used both Mario Badescu and Eradikate have an opinion about the differences, benefits, etc. between the two?

  3. sb says:

I haven't tried this, however I have used ExfoliKate, and will say that it is hands down the best investment beauty-wise that I have ever made. Even more so than my Clarisonic. Miracle worker!

  4. VCS says:

You say that “you wake up the next morning with clearer skin. Just be aware that you will be covered in spots like Mad Madam Mim attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes, at least until your skin starts to clear up.”

First part sounds good, but since I”m not familiar with Mad Madam Mim, I'm a little confused by the next sentence, which sounds like the opposite of clearer skin- can you please clarify? Thanks!

  5. Cessair says:

@VCS – The cream itself is pink – so while it is on your face, it doesn't look pretty. But wash it off in the morning and you look great!

  6. VCS says:

    @Cessair- got it- thank you!

  7. XR says:

This is such a coincidence. My sister came to visit over the weekend, and I found a bottle of this stuff in her makeup bag. I used it that night on some trouble areas and noticed a huge difference the next day. Great stuff.

  8. Kathy says:

This product hasn't lived up to the hype for me, so far. I purchased it the day this post came out and have used it for three nights in a row on a couple of fairly deep, cystic-type zits, one on my cheek and one near my hairline. No improvement whatsoever yet. Maybe it works better on acne that is closer to the skin surface and just needs to be dried up as quickly as possible.

  9. Belle says:

Kathy- Have you tried drawing salve? That usually works for me. Here's the post on it. I like the CVS brand drawing salve the best.

I suffer from cystic acne and sulfur has been my miracle elixir. I use BareMinerals blemish treatment, which has sulfur as its active ingredient and works well. I should try this one from Kate Sommerville, they are about the same in price. I also tried the Murad spot treatment and it didn't do nearly as well.

I also wash with a Dead Sea brand (forget which one at the moment) sulfur bar soap with my Clarisonic. Perhaps not the best cleanser, nor was it meant to be, but I have tried to switch over to others and my skin freaks out every time.

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
