Hairstyles: Tips for the Best Blowout

Feb 16, 2012

Like most professional women, I can’t afford bi-weekly trips to the salon for blowouts.  So I blowdry my own hair, every morning.  Some of the best tips that I have ever read for creating a better blowout come from the lovely ladies at The Beauty Department, founded by Lauren Conrad.

The best tip on the sheet? Blowdry your bangs first.  It really helps everything else fall into place.  So if you’re looking for some great tips on creating a smoother, more voluminous blowout, click the link above.

And if you’re looking for a new blowdryer, I just purchased a T3 Pro ($130) at the GiltCity sale last week, and I love it.  My one complaint is the placement of the power button, but it’s a small matter. Three speeds, heat settings and it comes with a real concentrator, not those fake ones Conair gives you.

Yes, it is a LOT of money to spend on a blow dryer.  But I run through hair dryers like most women go through cotton balls.  I blew out four dryers in 2011 alone.  So for me, the overrall cost will probably be the same.

If you want to try the Tourmaline power of a T3 dryer, and save a little money, the T3 Veloce Dryer is $99 and Skinstore is currently running a $20-off purchases of over $100 special (code RED20).

thanks for posting this website, i hadn't heard of it yet! i'm always looking for new ways to spice up my long hair with new 'do's, and there are plenty of things to try from this site!

I have insanely thick hair and rather than ever see it as a blessing, I've seen it as a curse and I've straightened out the thickness with a flat iron. I'd love to be able to take control and show it off by using a tactic like this (rather than making my hair look flat and thin when it's not!) but I can never get a handle on using a blow dryer and a brush in both hands — I always give up and my hair will end up looking like a frizz-ball. Frustrating.

What do those links mean (rstyle.me?)? Is that just a link shortener? Sorry if that's a dumb question…fairly new to the world of blogging.

  4. Tel says:

Belle– Keep your hairdryer box! T3 has a great warranty plan (which might come in handy if you're that rough on them).

I was wondering what those links meant as well!

  6. Belle says:

On the subject of links, Rewardstyle pays me a small % of the profits if you buy something using the link. Shopstyle pays me if you click…it's like 5-cents per click.

  7. Belle says:

If the links are freezing up for you, let me know. I've notice I have that problem on my work computer.

  8. MegamiTenchi says:

Actually, as long as you register your T3, you don't need to keep the box. I bought the Overnight years ago, and it's been replaced twice- the second time they upgraded me to the Pro, and I've never dropped a penny. In the end, you could save tons of money having bought at T3- if your 2011 was at all typical for your hair dryer destruction _ And omg, yes, I love my T3- in case that wasn't terribly obvious!

  9. Ellie says:

Ha, I like my T3 as well, and my only complaint is also that stupid power switch. I accidentally turn off my dryer at least twice while blow drying. Same goes with my Sedu Revolution curler.

  10. cia says:

Just curious how you blow out a hair dryer? I've been using the same one since 2005, and the one before that hadn't died; I just wanted a more powerful one. I use my dryer probably about 4-5 times a week… although probably for no more than 10 minutes at a time (I have fine hair). Is it just the length of time per drying session that kills your hair dryers, or something else?

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
