Happy Hour: Sugar and Spice

Dec 2, 2011

For the next four weeks, each of the Happy Hour posts will feature a holiday-themed cocktail.  Given my hatred of Starbucks’ Red Cups and holiday music, this is as close to Christmas cheer as I get.

Spicy Gingerbread Man

1 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz Hazelnut liqueur
1/2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
2 oz Ginger Beer
Cinnamon stick

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake over ice. Pour over ice into a rocks glass and garnish with Cinnamon stick.

J.Crew Brown Sequin Popover ($325 + 30%-off with code GIFTS)

Instead of a cocktail dress, I thought I would put up this chocolate sequin pullover.  It would look lovely with ivory dress pants, a cream pleated skirt or over a grey chiffon strapless dress.  It’s casual, but the sequins keep it cocktail.

I happened to read this as I was rocking out to Mariah Carey's “All I want for Christmas is you” while drinking a delicious peppermint mocha out of the delightful Starbucks red cup – BLISS! Happy Friday!

  2. That drink looks amaaaazing!

    Wow, a sweater from JCrew!

TT- I get a lot of requests from readers for non-dress holiday attire. So I posted this, if you don't think it's original or stylish or worth your time, feel free to read elsewhere.

Virginia-I am glad we no longer share office space. Damn Mariah Carey and her Xmas music. Damn holiday cups.

    love the sweater!

  6. Love the sequin pull over, Belle! Refreshing to see something that isn't a glittered dress.

I am so excited to try the Spicy Gingerbread Man! Have you ever tried it with just ginger ale instead of ginger beer? I'm having a holiday party this coming weekend and I'm worried the ginger beer might be too strong for some of my friends.
