A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]
It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
just saw the first skirt in an ensemble at the Nordstrom Flagship store in Seattle on display. Boots, textured wool herringbone coat with black and red (rachel zoe I think) cream shirt/red sweater vest, scarf and hat *in true seattle style and all the extras…including an umbrella. Was an eye catcher. But alas, my poor pocketbook…
I have a skirt similar to this in corduroy, and I can't figure out how to wear it for work. If I wear it with black tights and shoes, and a black top, it looks like I'm dressed like an oreo–dark on the top and bottom and light in the middle. Following the tights rule posted last week, should I wear it with light brown tights? I feel like that would be moving into weird leg territory. I'm getting hung up on the fact that it's corduroy and I should wear it in cold weather, but then, that calls for tights, not bare legs. Although, I live in a pretty warm climate, so bare legs are ok through October. Suggestions?
I just bought this Calvin Klein skirt and I like it a lot but beware, it's shorter on me than I thought it would be and I'm not even tall or leggy. It might be that the sizes run a little small and so it ends up higher on my waist than it would if I had gotten a half size bigger. I also second Emily's question – I haven't tried to wear this with tights yet but I feel like black tights would make me look short and stumpy.
It's become a strange world when a Calvin Klein skirt is that much cheaper than a J. Crew one.
I would wear this with nude fishnets or brown tights and brown boots or pumps. Camel always works with brown, and you could wear an ivory top or sweater so it's not too matchy matchy. Throw on some gold accessories and you're good to go! I've worn my camel skirt with red, deep blue, forest green, and plum colored tops too (at separate times, of course). It's enough of a neutral that it goes with almost any color. Good luck!
