BPGP: A Second Look at IS Clinical Active Serum

Sep 22, 2011

Last week, I published a review of IS Clinical Active Serum, the wonder acne eliminator featured in Jezebel’s Worth It series.  After two weeks of use, I gave the product a B+.  It helped but I didn’t get the results that I was originally looking for.

Well, I’d like to revise and extend my remarks on the topic (like that reference to floor procedure?).

Despite a little bit of dryness under my nose, I decided to keep using the product every night.  About a week after I wrote that post, last Saturday to be precise, I was walked into my bathroom looked in the mirror and had clear skin.  My jaw dropped.

Now, I’ve been tricked before.  AcneFree’s benzoyl-peroxide cream, cleared my skin for a couple of days before it all went haywire again.  So I wanted to wait a bit before I proclaimed victory.

This morning, I am pleased to report, I had one pimple on my entire face.  Just one on the tip of my nose.  That was it.  Nothing on my cheeks, forehead or chin.  Unreal, right?

For about a week, people have been saying to me, “Oh my God, your skin looks amazing.”  One friend even asked if I’d had microdermabrasion or a chemical peel.  She couldn’t believe I’d found semi-salvation in a little blue bottle.

I pray that I am not tempting fate by saying this, but this stuff really works.  You need to stick with it.  Religiously, every night for weeks.  But if it can help the unspeakable mess that was my right cheek, it can help you too.  (Seriously, three dermatologists and plastic surgeon were powerless to help me.)

It also helps with fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and scarring.  So I suggest that if you have any of those issues, you buy a bottle, today.  I give it my HIGHEST recommendation.

Now, this stuff isn’t cheap.  $128 for a 1oz bottle.  Yikes.  But number one, it’s a serum, you’re not supposed to apply it a shovel full at a time.  And number two, Skinstore.com is having a 20-percent-off sale with code SEP20 until the end of the month, so it’s really $103 for (what I’m guessing) is a two to three month supply.

Like my undaunted love for the Clarisonic, I will be telling everyone to buy this product. EVERYONE!

What are you still doing here?  Go buy one!

hey belle, thanks for your update on this product! i'm at my wits end with my acne and am going to try this out. just a heads up to anyone interested though – the discount code on Skinstore.com doesn't work for this product.

  2. Belle says:

I'm Sorry. Try amazon, you can sometimes find it cheaper.

  3. Trish says:

Hi Belle!! I'm glad to hear you found something great for your skin and I wanted to share what worked miracles for me. I've always had really bad breakouts, mostly around my chin, despite a clarisonic, expensive washes, etc. Well, my dermatologist prescribed me Atralin and it is brilliant! With a coupon it's only $25, and not only do I not break out but my skin is softer and the whole appearance changed completely! I also found that La Roche-Posay nutricic 2.5% works great as a moisturizer (I have dry skin). I also use their facewash. Dermatologica sheer tint moisturizer is my day-time go-to product. Next time you're looking for products maybe you can try these, and I hope you have great results! Thank you for having such a great website!

  4. Emme Gee says:

Thanks for the info. Just a Q – are you sponsored by IS Clinical Active Serum or Clarisonic? Thanks!

  5. Belle says:

Emme Gee- Nope, neither. I just love the products. If I take money or product, I always post the FCC notice telling my readers so they know.

  6. JW says:

trish, how long did it take for atralin to work for you? my skin has gotten softer and certainly flakier, but I still get terrible hormonal breakouts.

just ordered the IS serum, hopefully it works 🙂

  7. Emme Gee says:

Thanks, Belle! I just bought the Clarisonic Mia for $95 (after the discount) plus free shipping at Skin Store!! I think I'll try the IS Serum too…

  8. Kim says:

Belle, I did a Google shopping search and saw that there are several other products available in the same line (suncreen, face wash, etc.) Have you tried any of the other products? I also read the review of this product on Jezebel and, after seeing you recommend it as well, I think I am ready to bite the bullet and try it, but I'm trying to decide if I should splurge on the value kit or not.

    Thanks!

  9. Belle says:

Kim-Haven't yet. But I've thought about buying the kit when this bottle of serum runs out.

  10. Kim says:

Thanks for the quick response, Belle. I think I might bite the bullet and order a kit. Hopefully I'll wind up liking it!

  11. mia says:

Purchased the Acne kit, that way can try out all the products. Nothing miraculous yet but as Belle warns it takes time.

  12. Belle says:

Mia- You've got to give it at least FOUR FULL WEEKS. I almost quit at 17 days, and if I had, I would be very disappointed. KEEP IT UP.

  13. Liz says:

I bit the bullet and ordered this. Has this replaced moisturizer for you? Or are you still using Pure Perfection (which I also love)?

  14. Trish says:

    Belle,
So sorry for the delayed response! Atralin took some time to really get used to, but once I found the perfect moisturizer for me it has worked since! it has been around a month without any breakouts at all, not one! I'm on my second tube of Atralin.

    Feel better,
    Trish

  15. Erin says:

I've been battling acne for five years and I've tried everything. I read your post, coughed up the money and it was worth it. Like you I didn't see results immediately, but after using the serum for 3 weeks my skin is the clearest it has been in five years. It is expensive, but after the hundreds of dollars I've spent on other things, buying a small bottle that will last me about 3 months is totally worth the confidence I have with clear skin. Thanks for the tip!

  17. eg says:

I'm just curious how your skin is faring after a month of using the serum. I find that most skin care systems only work for awhile before my skin goes haywire again.

    Thanks!

  18. Belle says:

Eg-After a month, I have had one menstrual induced breakout, and that's it. So, it's not strong enough to survive the really awful hormonal acne, though the breakout was smaller than normal, but after the hormones passed, it cleared right up again,

So I'm definitely still in love.

  19. eg says:

Thanks, Belle! I've been using the iS Clinical Acne Kit for about 2 weeks and it's already helped alot with hormonal acne and the painful cystic zits. You've converted me!

  20. V says:

Belle, thanks for featuring this product. I have absolutely hopeless skin, but I've been using this for three weeks, and I might have fewer pimples active on my face at once, and what I do have goes away quicker. An objective outsider said my face was less red as well, so hey — maybe there's still hope. I'll keep trucking away at this, and we'll see how it looks on the other side. Now if only I can get rid of the acne scars!

  21. Belle says:

I mean it's not perfect. It really isn't helpful on my PMS acne. BUT, it's the best thing I've found. It does take FOREVER before you see real results though. So give it a bit longer.

I've also found that if you combine it with the Tanda Zap to treat existing acne, it boosts the results.

    I'm happy with it.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
