The Lust List: July 2011

Jun 30, 2011

Polyvore Set Here.

The Lust List is a new feature here on CHS.  I started it because often, I will find an item that I LOVE, that I think about day and night until either I buy it or it sells out, but I don’t really feel like it’s worthy of its own blog post.  So I thought, why not combine all of the items into a monthly feature showcasing a few of the pieces that I am lusting after right now?  Let’s start with the skirt…

Jardin Skirt. Made by J.CREW, this breezy cotton skirt will be perfect this summer.  Wear it this summer with a white, cotton tank, a simple silk blouse or under a pretty cardigan.  Then, this fall, pair it with a light crewneck sweater or a chunky, cable knit and boots.  Especially in this peachy-nude color, this skirt will be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe.

Cherry Blossom Nail Polish.  Every summer, I go on a quest for the perfect polish.  I want it bright and pink, but not too overwhelming.  This season, I have settled on OPI’s D.C. Cherry Blossom.  Pretty and spunky with a D.C. connection? Sold.

Striped Lurex Jacket.  It’s metallic.  It’s sparkly.  It’s collarless.  And it has stripes.  I think I’m in love.  And to all of you saying, “But what would you wear it with?” I say, what wouldn’t I wear it with?  (Over a white chiffon dress was my first though, with jeans and a tee was my second.)

Fresh Perfume.  As you have probably read, I love citrusy perfumes.  The kind that aren’t too heavy, to sweet or too musky.  So Hesperides by Fresh is right in my wheelhouse.  It has hints of bergamot, grapefruit and peach to create the perfect summer scent.  Now, if only they would make it in a roll-on so I can take it on trips and touch up during the day.  Oh well, I guess I’ll just bring my Citron de Vigne roll-on.

Kenneth Jay Layne Necklace.  I usually wear a cream-colored scarf to balance out simple tops, like the striped tee that I’m wearing right now.  But in the summer, in D.C., a scarf is no bueno.  So I wanted to buy a long, bold necklace to mix things up.  I think this coral and blue, art deco pendant is perfect for that.  And, it’s Broncos colors.  Elway for life.

Rebecca Minkoff Linen Bag.  Carrying a leather bag in the summertime just feels wrong, so this linen bag with leather touches seems better suited to the warm weather.  And I love the gold hardware, the tassel and the dome shape.  Please God, let this gorgeous thing be for sale on Gilt Groupe some time soon.

So what are you lusting after this July?

    inspired by The Daily Obsession?

  2. Belle says:

It's a pretty common name, I saw a few other blogs using it. And I figured what the heck? Plus, googling Lust List helped me discover some cool new sites, like Daily Obsession.

  3. J says:

More power to ya – I love the Daily Obsesion's lust list (even though i can never afford a single item) – I wish they would do them weekly like you plan to!

  4. G says:

Love the Rebecca Minkoff bag! I bought this bag from J.Crew Factory store online to get the same look since I couldn't quite splurge but still wanted something sturdy and reliable. It's brown instead of black leather but has the same gold hardware https://www.jcrew.com/womens_factory_category/scarvesandaccessories/PRDOVR~46153/99102396700/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~205+17+4294966615~15~~~~~~~/46153.jsp

Def agree on the skirt and the bag – great pulls. I wore the Cherry Blossom nail polish on my toes for our wedding last month. Looked awesome peeking out of my peep toes.

  6. KRF says:

I am lusting for Kai perfume. After searching for a new perfume for the past two years I discovered the most delightful scent. I teased myself with a sample and now I must save up the $75 or so it will cost to purchase. Enjoy the month of July!

  7. Katie says:

Love the Broncos shout out. Can't go wrong with orange and blue 🙂

  8. R says:

Belle, could you possibly post your Sunday night primping ritual?

  9. BB says:

I mostly agree with all your picks, except for that jacket, which is tres ugly.

  10. Brittany says:

KRF– They carry a perfume oil of Kai at Bellacara on King Street in Old Town. Its $45 and you only need a drop to last you through the day so its worth getting the small bottle. The size of the EDP is larger bc you have to add water to a perfume oil to be able to use a spray. They also have the body lotion which is amazing.

  11. KRF says:

Brittany–thanks so much for the tip. I see a trip from MD to Old Town VERY soon!

  12. Jessica says:

Ditto “R”. Would love to read a Sunday night primping post.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
