Checking in with Emerson Made

Jun 23, 2011

Emerson Made started as a small, wife and husband owned company making floral sashes, pins and hair clips for women who wanted a little whimsy in their lives.  After a few years, it has grown to include apparel, shoes, accessories and jewelry.  So I thought it might be time to check in on their progress and show you a few of my favorite pieces from their new online shop.

Polyvore Set Here.

Seersucker Blouse: I’m not really in to seersucker (see post here), but I love this blouse.  The puffed sleeves, the folded ruffles around the collar, and the flattering scoop neckline are all adorable.  This would be so cute with white separates (jeans, pants, skirts, shorts) or with a red skirt…and wouldn’t you know it, I just happen to own a red skirt!  She also makes the same style of blouse in a dotted print for those of you who aren’t into stripes

Gold Pendants: These gold coin pendants are adorable.  There are six to choose from: a lion, a butterfly, a balloon, a dragonfly, a four leaf clover and, my favorite, a bird.  Some of the coins even contain inspirational sayings.  The bird pendant is labeled:”semper ad meliora” or “Always Towards Better Things.”  My one, small complaint about the pendants is the quality of the chain, but that is easily replaced.

Dotted Skirt:  How cute is this rainbow-dotted skirt with scalloped hem?  It would be so adorable with a white tee or with a brightly-colored blouse and sandals.  I’d recommend sewing the pockets flat if you’re pear shaped like I am.  It helps cut down on the bulk.

Poppy Corsage:  Of Emerson’s original pieces, the poppy corsage is still my favorite.  I love how bold and cheerful it is.  It’s the perfect accent to a simple striped top.  You could also pin it to a belt or the collar of your winter coat for a little something extra.

Belle, thanks for linking to this site. It's new to me and their stuff is adorable; it's extra-cool that the items are made in the USA. Do you know if they offer discount codes, and where/how to find them if they do? I'm totally lusting after a few items.

I love their stuff — I just wish I could afford it! I was dying to have the Trench Dress ($228) and lucked out and found a very similar dress at H&M for $35.

    Belle,
Do you think they would offer your readers a special discount since you did such a good plug for them on the world wide web?!

those pendants are beautiful – pretty sure I'm going to have to get one!

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
