State of the Blog: Happy Birthday

May 23, 2011

Next Sunday is my 29th birthday.  My Golden Birthday, or so they say.  But since I plan on turning 29 several times–I’m lucky enough to look 25, so I should be able to cook the numbers for a few years–it’s not that big of a deal.

My family doesn’t really do birthday gifts.  Mostly because I’m particular, and it’s just easier to send cash.  So every year, I buy myself a gift, something that I’ll really enjoy.

This year, I sat down to look for a gift on the Internet, but I couldn’t find anything.  So I started to think about what I really wanted.  What would make me happy or at the very least, bring me some joy.  And then it came to me…

I’d like a break.

I love writing this blog.  I love chatting with all of you.  But sometimes, when I’m sitting at my desk typing, I start to think about all the things that I could be doing instead.

So this week, as a birthday gift to myself, I’m taking a little break.  Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning you completely.  I’m just going to cut back to one post per day.  This way, you get fresh content, and I get a mini-break.

xoxo

Happy birthday, Belle! Take that well-deserved break. Btw – you weren't in Eastern Market yesterday, were you? I saw a lovely-looking brunette in a green dress and nude shoes and wondered if she might be you.

  3. Happy Birthday, Belle! You definitely deserve a break. ūüôā I know what you mean. Blogging can definitely suck the social out of your life at times, but it's so fun and rewarding.

What fun plans do you have penciled into your schedule this week? With all this time, I'm dying to know what the first thing on your list is.

Living vicariously through you on your relaxing week,

Happy Birthday and I hope that you enjoy your break – although I think that you may have just outer yourself as the world's most conscientious blogger by considering only posting once a day a break.

I didn't appreciate it when I was getting carded for R rated movies, but I definitely appreciate looking younger now. I've been 35 for 8 years now.

    Happy Birthday Belle!

Happy Birthday Belle! The break sounds great, enjoy it. One post a day should keep us happy and give you the time to do other things you enjoy. ūüôā

    Belle,

You inspired me to start my own beauty blog but, to be honest, it's been hard to keep up a regular posting schedule… Every time I get off track (which is often) I consider the fact that you post three times per DAY – I'm just aiming for three times per week! – and it generally kicks me back into gear. So, thank you for setting the bar high!

That said, you definitely deserve a break! Cut back to a single, fabulous, insightful and downright-funny post (as always are) and I will still consider you a role model. Here's a toast to you – your first of many 29th birthdays, and to hoping that one day I, too, can claim to post once per day!
