Years ago, when I was still participating in pageants, I learned the importance of having well-defined eyebrows. Eyebrows frame the face and allow you to wear bold eye makeup without looking unfinished. But most women don’t take the extra minute or two that it takes to fill in their brows, which is a shame since it’s pretty simple.
The video tutorial that I posted above is a great, step-by-step guide for how to fill in your eyebrows. If it has a few too many steps for you, I use a simple brow pencil with a light feathering motion to fill in my brows for every day. But if I’m going out, I break out the angle brush and the brow corrector palette, just like the lady in the video.
If you’re not filling in your brows, watch the video and give it a try. I think you’ll be surprised by what a difference it makes.
great eyebrows, in my opinion, are the best accessory a woman can have! It really changes the face. dupont threading is my favorite place in DC to keep up my brows.

I agree with L, nicely shaped eyebrows are definitely the best accessory a woman can have! However, I have not been able to find a place in DC to keep mine up. I still get them done everytime I go home for a visit. Can you recommend a couple good places here?
I was never a believer in filling in my eyebrows…just didn't feel it warranted those 30 extra seconds. Well, I recently started filling in my eyebrows and I can't believe how many great comments I have received. I am a convert and will never go back. I started off by using the eyebrow palette from Sephora because it comes with several brow shaping templates – thin, medium, and full. Now that my eyebrows are shaped properly, it is a snap to fill them in every morning!
M, I go to Michelle at Bang Chinatown for eyebrow waxing, she does a great job!
Best eyebrow place is Threads on U St. They do natural-looking brows and it's incredibly affordable!
I am a blonde with fairly dark brows. I get asked if I dye my hair a lot because of how dark my brows are, does this still apply to me? I can understand needing them shaped, but I have a hard time wanting to make them any darker. I am also not very make up savvy so any advice would be welcome!
HB- Have you ever thought about having your eyebrows tinted? A good friend of mine is red headed and she has brown eyebrows so everyone thinks she dyes it, so she has them tinted a little lighter and then uses a lighter pencil.
I've somehow miraculously been blessed with beautiful skin so the only makeup I wear every day is tinted chapstick and lengthening mascara. While the threading experts always shape by eyebrows nicely, they are thin in some spots so i've tried a few times to fill them a little, but it always looks really fake against my skin since you can tell i dont have any other makeup on. Am I just using the wrong color? I've actually tried brown and black and both seem to look funny. Or can you really only do this is you have a fully madeup face?
I appreciate the suggestions for brow places here in DC! I'm new here too. Do the places suggested actually do SHAPING or are they just keeping them how they are & getting rid of straggling hairs? I am looking for someone to do shaping because I need that arch back!

Ashley – Michelle at Bang does shaping or just general upkeep, depending on what you want. The first time I saw her I needed a major brow makeover, and now they're to the “maintenance” point (which is nice!).
Ladies who are looking to get their eyebrows shaped: Fyubi (https://www.fyubi.com/) or Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas (of which there are three in the Metro area). Both do shaping and maintenance. Fyubi will only use tweezers and Red Door has the option of either threading or waxing, but they will use tweezers if you ask. I find that tweezers are always the best option, particularly for shaping. Hope this helps.
