Happy Hour: Velvety Smooth

Mar 4, 2011

After the Academy Awards, I go into a bit of a coma.  There are so many gowns, some beautiful and other no so much, that I need a few days of dress detox.  But when you see something as wonderful as this (in a price range you can actually afford), it snaps you right out of it.

Alice + Olivia One Shoulder Drape Dress (ShopBop, $242)

The soft sable color, the gentle draping, this dress is the epitome of chic.  This is a dress that deserves to be shared with the world.

A dress that smooth deserves an equally velvety cocktail.  Can you say chocolate?

Mint Chocolate Martini

Four parts Bailey’s Mint Chocolate Irish Creme Liqueur

One part Vanilla Vodka

Chocolate Sauce

Sprig of Mint

In a cocktail shaker, mix ice, Bailey’s and vodka.  Shake vigorously if you like foamy drinks (I do), or shake lightly if you prefer something smoother.

Using a squeeze bottle, paint the inside of a martini glass with chocolate sauce.  Pour cocktail on top.  Add mint sprig for garnish.

A word of brief warning.  This drink is heavy.  It is not something you drink with food.  So don’t screw up like I did and try to drink this before dinner because it will kill your appetite.  This is a dessert drink, plan accordingly.

Happy Hour

I bet that dress feels the same way as mint when it lingers. Divine.

  2. Very beautiful. The color pallette is what makes that dress look so expensive.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
