BPGP: Dior Liquid Eyeliner

Feb 24, 2011

I have a confession to make.  I’m terrified of liquid eyeliner.  A few years ago, I upgraded from pencil to gel, but I have resisted the switch to liquid, until now.

Last month, I went shopping with a friend.  She was in the market for a new eyeliner, so we stopped by the Nordstrom makeup counter.  I had always believed that liquid was messy and difficult to apply.  But watching the salesperson sweep the slick black fluid across her eyelids, made my morning routine of gel and brush seem like a giant hassle.

Two weeks later, and I am absolutely in love with Dior’s liquid eyeliner (Sephora, $33).  Unlike other liners that come with a separate brush, this product has the brush built in to an easy to use pen.  Just twist the bottom to dispense the fluid, and gently apply the jet back liquid to your eyelids.  This product glides on so smoothly that even after several cups of coffee, I still get an even line.  It’s practically foolproof.

While I’m still using my gel liner for daytime–the black is a bit intense for work–I really love how easy it is to achieve the perfect winged eyeliner with this product.  Who knows?  Maybe this weekend, I’ll decide to breakout the full Cleopatra.  Then again, Elizabeth Taylor, I’m not.

Whether you like a little bit of liner or a lot, this product really takes the guess work out of liquid liner.  No more fear that you’ll drip the oily fluid into your eye and blind yourself for life.  What?  Don’t pretend I’m the only one who was afraid that might happen.

Liquid eyeliner is the only way to go. It is my favorite, even for lazy Sundays.

Ditto Mel – I'm a liquid liner girl all the way. I use Maybelline Line Stiletto.

I also use the Line Stiletto. I can dot on the line very fine such that is appropriate for daytime. I have both the black and the brown-black. The waterproof formula stays put all day. Pencil eyeliner always smudges under my eyes (even though I only apply to the upper lid and use a eyeshadow base; must have oily lids or something). Now if only it came in a dark plum….

I fall in the terrified-of-liquid-liner category, although I do own a Lancome Artliner that I occasionally experiment with and would love to learn how to use. Any tips on how / wear to apply liquid liner?

  5. Kim says:

I love liquid eyeliners that glide on like this, as well. My favorite is the Sephora Kat Von D on. I just like the shade of black better than the Dior one. I also have a great Lorac brown one.

I have been trying to incorporate some more budget make-up items into my collection; now that three of you ladies have recommended the Maybelline product, I might give it a try!

I always seem to have undereye circles from my makeup halfway through the day. Definitely trying a liquid liner. Does anyone have any tips on under eye application of makeup?? I have tried shadow as liner, pencils, etc. Liquid would seem too harsh. Heeelllp! 🙂

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
