Local Gift Guide: Bluemercury

Dec 21, 2010

Bluemercury is a fantastic store for the beauty lover in your life.  If you haven’t been to this locally-grown chain, you must stop in to one of their locations soon.  Here is a list of lovely gifts that you can find at any one of their D.C. area shops.

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Set ($40)

If you know someone who loves long luxurious baths, then this is the gift for them.  The bath gel scents the water with the most amazing nutty fragrance, and the body souffle gives your skin a much needed boost of moisture.

NARS Precious Mini-Set ($30)

Earlier this year, I purchased the Purple Rain nail polish and I am OBSESSED with it.  If you have a nail polish lover in your life, you can give her my favorite shade plus a neutral pink, a shimmery gold, and a bright rouge shade.  What more could a girl ask for?

Acqua di Parma Colonia Holiday Set ($120)

Bluemercury’s owner, Marla Malcolm Beck, loves this rich citrusy scent.  Perfect for women and men, this fragrance is the perfect balance of musk and sweetness.  It’s definitely  fragrance that lingers in a good way.

Fresh Citron de Vigne Candle ($48)

I don’t usually burn candles, but when I saw that my favorite perfume came in candle form, I had to have one.  If citrusy scents aren’t your thing, they make a candle in all of Fresh’s signature scents.  Try the pomegranate anise for a deep, romantic fragrance that will fill your home with its sultry scent.

Mason Pearson Hairbrush ($126)

If you want to get the lady in your life a luxurious gift, this Mason Pearson hairbrush is the perfect gift.  It’s one of those things that she lusts after, but is far too practical to buy for herself.

If any of these gifts strike your fancy, Bluemercury has locations in D.C. and Maryland, as well as other locations across the country.  So if you’re looking for a peaceful, grown-up alternative to the hectic, pubescent crowd that sometimes lingers at Sephora, Bluemercury is for you.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
