Gift Guide: Barefoot Dreams Blanket

Dec 9, 2010

Last night, I was celebrating the holiday season with some friends over a 4,000 calorie dinner at Matchbox, when we started talking about holiday gift giving.  And somehow during the course of this conversation, we got onto the topic of Barefoot Dreams Blankets.

My two friends (heretofore known as the Blondes) were absolutely insistent that Barefoot Dreams Blankets are the softest, warmest, and most amazing blankets of all time.  They then recited tales of grown men turned into blanket cuddling toddlers by the transformative powers of the snuggly chenille throws.  Naturally, I was intrigued.

After all, the Blondes know a thing or two about luxury.

When I asked what the blankets were made of, one of the Blondes replied “feathers from angel wings.”  But it turns out that Barefoot Dreams Blankets are made out of a bamboo/poly-blend that several Internet reviewers described as “miraculous” and “life-altering.” In addition to blankets for babies and adults, the company uses this miracle material to make bath robes and sweaters.

While the Blondes insist that these blankets would be an excellent choice for anyone on your list, I think a grandparent or Mother-who-happens-to-live-in-the-freezing-tundra would really appreciate this cozy throw.  Bosses, it might also be good gift for the poor assistant/leg. aide who you force to sit in a freezing cold office all day.

I also love these little blanket and stuffed animal combos for the godchildren, nieces, nephews and new babies in your life. They even offer an elephant blankie for the new Republican in your life, but sorry, no donkeys.

So if you need a simple gift for a friend or relative, a Barefoot Dreams throw may be the perfect selection.  The blankets while a touch pricey ($132-220) are Blonde selected, recipient approved.  Enjoy!

Matchbox is my favorite! Just had lunch there on Sunday. Those blankets do sound super comfy!

I have to agree with your friend's description of the Barefoot Dreams blankets being made from “feathers from angel wings.” When my son was first born, I got him a couple of blankets and an infant gown from Barefoot Dreams that were pretty much the embodiment of awesomeness.

I just ordered my mother-in-law one of these! Another alternative is the NAP blanket from Brookstone. It's not made from bamboo, but I've had the pleasure of cuddling under both and it's a really tough call on which is softer/more awesome. The Brookstone blanket is only $45(ish) so it would be a good alternative if you like the concept, but not the price tag. Just a suggestion! Love the blog!

I used to have one of these blankets (it was on Oprah's favorite things in 2003/2004), until my roommate's boyfriend stole it! It was the greatest blanket – ever. Maybe, I'll add it to my list for this year.

  5. Chelsea says:

These blankets and robes are incredible. They sell them at Nordstrom, and usually after Christmas the holiday colors will go on sale for $60-$75 ish. So it might be worth waiting!

  6. I got a bunch of Barefoot Dreams stuff as baby gifts. I am also considering stealing them from my daughter…she'll never know, right?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
