Belle's Weekly Reading: Holiday Mayhem

Dec 6, 2010

Gift Guides. There will only be two posts today.  I was preparing for The CHS Holiday Gift Guide Extravaganza (trademark pending), and lost track of time.  Apologies.

This year, we will be featuring online gift guides as well as gift ideas that can be purchased at local shops (if you’re in the District, of course).  Hopefully, this will help a few of you last minute shoppers find gifts!

If you are looking for a certain type of gift or a gift for a certain person and you would like Belle’s help, please send an e-mail to capitolhillstyle (at) gmail (dot) com.

Holiday Fashion.  If you’re still in search of an outfit for your yuletide soirees, Mizhattan has some lovely ideas including this pair of dresses for the fashion minimalist (that’s me!).  Style Bakery also has some great ideas for how to style the same party dress two ways for two separate occasions.  And if you need tips for the perfect holiday updo, The Budget Babe has some fab suggestions.

Holiday Treats.  If you have a need for holiday treats, Cupcakes and Cashmere has some lovely recipes that you’re sure to enjoy.  As long as you don’t count calories, her Homemade Twix Bars, Cigarette Russes and Chocolate-Covered Orange Peels are sure to please.

Resale Salon.  I realized this weekend that it’s been forever since I published items in the Resale Salon.  If you have some winter attire that you would like to contribute, please email me.

The Resale Salon listings are free to readers, run until the item sells, and we sell about 50% of the items published within one month.  So it’s an easy way to clean out your closet before the Xmas gifts arrive!

Find more details here, postings will go up this week.

See you tomorrow for the start of the gift guide season!

xoxo,

Belle

Not sure where the best place to put this comment would be, but I just wanted to say thanks again for the Orly Iron Butterfly nail polish recommendation! I bought a bottle on eBay, and I absolutely love it. It's interesting, but not too out-there, and dark without looking goth. Plus it goes on really easily (not all polishes are user-friendly) and dries within five minutes, which is fantastic. Anyway, thanks again so much for the heads-up about this!
