Holiday 2010: Mixing Metals

Dec 1, 2010

I love sequins.  I love sparkle.  And I love shine.  What can I say?  I’m a Texas pageant queen trapped in a Hill Staffer’s body.

Today, I decided to blend two different metallic, sequined pieces to create something for those of us with an un-curable love of sparkle.  But instead of mixing metallics of the same shade, I decided to pair a muted gold sequin blouse with bronze accessories.

Blouse.  Vince Sequined Crepe T-shirt (Net-a-Porter, $295)

Pants.  Modern Tux Pant (White House, Black Market, $88)

Shoes.  LillyBee Carrie Pumps (SimplySoles, $185)

Clutch.  Vanessa Satin Evening Bag (eBags, $32)

Earrings.  Stephen Dweck Green Bead and Bronze Drops (Last Call, $100)

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
