Holiday 2010: Back in Black

Nov 29, 2010

While the little black dress is a wardrobe staple, I think women (D.C. women in particular) rely to heavily on this classic cocktail selection.  But, despite these feelings, I’ve decided to kick off Holiday Week 2010 with a fabulous black lace dress that is both stylish and affordable.

Dress. BB Dakota Lady Jane Dress (Modcloth, $105)

Earrings.  Dorthy Earring (Chico’s, $34)

Bracelet.  Lace Overlay Bow Bracelet (White House, Black Market, $44)

Clutch.  Menbur Frame Clutch (Endless, $45)

Shoes.  Caparros Precious Pumps (Piperlime, $98)

This black dress is anything but basic.  I love the lace overlay and the pleated waist detail.  If you’re pear shaped or a bit square in the mid-section, this is the dress for you.

You could wear a necklace, but when you have a neckline this pretty, I see no reason to spoil it.  I kept the accessories simple and tonal because I want the dress to get all the attention.  And why shouldn’t it?

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
