Faux Pas: Killing the Holiday Spirit

Nov 9, 2010

The holiday season is upon us, and soon my inbox will be overflowing with embossed envelopes.  But in Washington, D.C., there is only one invite that makes people swoon with jealousy and desire.

The White House Holiday Ball invitation is the gold standard in yuletide solicitations.  This little 5×7 card will gain you entree into the most exclusive party in town, and convey to all who view it that you swim in the pool of power.  A White House holiday invitation is the kind of memento that you frame, will to a museum collection or pass down to your grandchildren.

Unless, of course, the highlighter murders the historic allure.

I am currently looking at the same invitation. Think my boss will notice if his copy goes missing? 🙂

  2. Jess says:

Ooooh, what are you going to wear?!

  3. CB says:

    Who would do that?

  4. Belle says:

Jess-Sadly, it is my Boss' invitation.

    CB-A well meaning scheduler.

  5. Well, this is the closest I'll ever come to getting one of those. Hope your boss has fun!

The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
