Happy Hour: Caipirinha and Cuba Libre

Oct 15, 2010

Last night, some friends and I descended on Cuba Libre for what can only be described as a rum soaked evening on the town.  After more mojitos and caipirinhas than I can count (triple digit bar tab, ouch), I poured myself down the street to my apartment for rehydration (with water) and some light drunk texting.  So in honor of my night in Havana (and my mild sugar-induced hangover), I thought I’d feature a recipe for my new favorite libation: caipirinha.

Red Queen Petal Dress (Etsy, $295)

When I think of a dress to wear to Cuba (or in this case, a Disneyland-esque, Cuban themed restaurant), I think vintage red ruffles.  There really is no other choice.

Unless of course you’re into army green fatigues and cigars, and then to each her own.

Here is a recipe for a traditional caipirinha that you will no doubt enjoy.  I had the full recipe published in the post, but the original publisher objected so now there is just a link to her recipe feel free to visit her page for instructions.

This recipe is for a traditional (lime) Caipirinha, but you can muddle just about any fruit and add it to the mix.  Last night, my table tried ginger & honey, watermelon and mixed berry flavors.  They were all delicious.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
