And Red All Over

Oct 14, 2010

In 2009, actress Penelope Cruz wore an all red Bottega Venetta ensemble to the premier of her movie Broken Embraces. Sure, some people thought it was too much red.  Others thought that she shouldn’t have worn red on a red carpet.  But I fell in love with it.

I’ve tried to recreate this look on at least three occasions with varying levels of failure.  But thanks to the Zara October look book, this outfit may finally be mine.

The outfit may not be exactly the same, but it’s damn close. I actually prefer the garnet red to the bright, lipstick red that Penelope chose.  But the ankle length pants may pose a bit of a problem.  Either way, I’m definitely headed to Zara for some quality dressing room time.

Are long jackets back? Apparently so.

I'm not a fan…but I think that's because I'm 5'2″ and would SWIM in that jacket!! And the “short” pants would be long enough to be long pants.

  3. Andrea says:

I'm not a fan either. The matchy-matchy look, along with the garnet red, seems a bit old lady-ish. The ankle legnth pants might be what is throwing it off though.

Both outfits look too much like fancy pajamas to me. I think I'd love that Zara blouse with a charcoal pencil skirt, though!

  5. Rory says:

I really like the Zara outfit. However, those ankle-length pants on the model would turn into capris on me.

After witnessing the death of her beloved Jabberwock at the hands of a stroppy blonde, subsequently forcing her to step down from office, The Red Queen decided to give corporate Wonderland a try.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
