Sparkle Fingers

Sep 2, 2010

Last month, I posted about my desire to swap out my NARS Purple Rain nail polish for a touch of gold shimmer

Sadly, the first three gold polishes that I tried could best be described as disastrous.  They were all way to dark and made me look like I had been holding hands with the Bond villain Goldfinger. But last week, I discovered the perfect polish while getting a manicure out West: OPI’s Glitzerland ($9).

While my dark purple nails sometimes earn strange looks in a conservative environment like Capitol Hill, Glitzerland is just neutral enough against my skin tone to be work appropriate.  And the gold tips are certainly more light and fun than the darker colors.

All in all, I think Glitzerland is the perfect shade of gold for the woman who’d like to change up her manicure routine with a little shimmer.  And what woman can say no to some sparkle?

Because of this post, I went to check it out myself. It's now gracing my tootsies and I even bought it to bring home. I'm extremely fair myself and have been wanting gold polish for a while – this is perfect! So happy you posted about it.

If you like a little gold shimmer but don't want to go all the way metallic, Nars' polish in Orgasm is my absolute favorite. It's a pink/coral polish with non-overbearing gold shimmer.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
