State of the Blog: Housekeeping and Dreams

Giveaway. Last week, I hosted a giveaway for a Goody Spin Pin.  I intended to give one away and keep the other for myself.  But since so many of you mentioned that you couldn’t find them in D.C., I decided to give both away.

What can I say?  I’m filled with the spirit of Christian charity today.  Must be Recess.

The winner of the blonde spin pin is Twitter follower @Lisatella.

The winner of the brunette pin is commenter Sara Lang.

As for future giveaways, I’m going to make an effort to do at least one giveaway per month, but we’ll see how that pans out.

Interns. I contacted the interns today about when they would like to start posting.  Sorry for the delay, but July is always cray-zee around here and it takes a bit of effort to get them set up to post.  Hopefully, we’ll have some fresh content up later this week.

I’m hoping that Alison and CJ can help keep things afloat during my August travel and campaign trail schedule.  I’ll be away a lot because I have a family member who is also running for Congress and it would really help my street cred to be the relative of a Congressman. (*wink*)

Advertisements.  As longtime readers know, I have been trying to monetize this site for a VERY long time.  It takes time and effort to put together the content, but more than that, domain names and server space cost money.  I’m not trying to get rich, but I’d like to cover costs and maybe cover my Kerastase addiction.

Also, I am hopeful that advertising will help bring in more items for giveaways.  I’d like to increase the reader rewards as much as I can because your continued support is the reason that I didn’t close this site months ago.

Resale Salon. I’m going to post one more Resale Salon batch this month before we switch full time into Fall clothes.  So if you have warm weather or Fall attire that you would like to part with, please get your descriptions and photos to me by Aug 15.

For information about the Resale Salon and instructions on how to list items, click here.  All listings are free.

As always, if you have questions for the Ask Belle column, please send them to capitolhillstyle (at) gmail (dot) com with “Ask Belle” in the Subject title. And if you’re not following CHS on Twitter or a fan on Facebook, you should be.

Well, I’m off to enjoy a real lunch break (bless you August Recess), so I’ll see you cats on the flipside!

xoxo

Belle

The Goody Spin Pin was sold out at the Target on Route 1 last week. Belle has lots of readers.

Is there a way to make the adds less obtrusive?

I’ve been reading the site for awhile, and I must say that I didn’t even notice the ads until it was pointed out in this post! Keep up the great work, Belle!

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
