Monday Giveaway: Goody Spin Pin

Jul 27, 2010

The blah days of August are almost upon us, and if this Summer wasn’t hot enough for you already, it’s about to get blazing.

Beyond the sweating and the unquenchable thirst, the worst thing about spending August in D.C. is watching your coif wilt like lettuce during a Japenese inspection.  Surviving this endless string of bad hair days requires creativity, dry shampoo, and a Goody Spin Pin.

This odd looking spiral hair pin is the perfect Summer accessory for those days when your hair need a little pick-me-up (literally).  The Spin Pin is strong enough to replace twenty bobby pins, keeping your hair secure at the office and during your daily workout.  So if you’re looking to replace that jaw clip (gag), this is the product for you.

Thanks to a buy one, get one free sale at CVS, I’m giving away a Goody Spin Pin to one lucky reader.  And because I like options, there are three ways to enter this giveaway:

1) Join the Capitol Hill Style Facebook group and leave a message on the wall specifying whether you would like the blonde or brunette clips.

2) Follow Capitol Hill Style on Twitter and send Belle a tweet specifying blonde or brunette.

3) Leave a message in the comments explaining why you are the last person alive who possesses neither a Twitter nor Facebook account, and specify which color of pin you require.

You can also do all three if you’d like to increase your chances of winning.  The winner will be announced Friday in the Weekly Reading.  Good Luck!

xoxo

I have seriously reconsidered my commitment to jaw clip since last week’s post. I still wear it to go do laps at the pool, but I need something for every day use, for fear of ending up on your fashion faux pas.

Brunette would be nice! Fingers crossed… Thanks !

Maybe I’m really dense, but I do not understand how the spin pin works. Do you twist it down into your hair like a screw? Seems like it would rip a ton of my hair out when I decide to remove it. Any explanation of how you work these darn things would be very helpful. Also, some photos of what you can do with it. I have really thick, fine hair and for the life of me, can’t use any less than 50 bobby pins when trying to do something–which means I stick to ponytail holders and barrettes. I’d love to try the spin pin if I knew what to do with it before plunking down the cash for them.

  4. Sara Lang says:

I’ve tried to buy these three times, and all three times they were sold out! I’d love a brunette set please!

  5. A says:

I do have Twitter & FB…you’ll see I sent you message there too, Belle. Brunette, please. 🙂

  6. AL says:

Brunette please (no FB or twitter access during work hours..boo).

  7. sGe says:

    Brunette please 🙂

  8. TA says:

I don’t have a twitter account but I do have Facebook. But I would love a Brunette clip please. I really need one as my hair gets really frizzy from all of this humidity and I’m sick of wear my hair in a pony tail.

  9. Carissa says:

Belle I would absolutely love to have a set of brunette clips! These look absolutely fabulous and I would love to try them out 🙂 I am constantly pulling my hair back due to the heat and working out on my lunch break so these amazing clips would be great and easy way to change up my ever so boring hairstyles.

  10. CapitolBites says:

What a perfect way to keep my hair up during these hot and humid summer days

  11. F4EC says:

    Blonde, please 🙂
I was on facebook for a while, but then I deleted my account b/c I didn’t want future employers seeing me in non-work settings…not that I am super wild, but I’m always making goofy faces or seem to be holding a wine glass, LOL. I’m already blonde and look young for my age (26), I don’t need to add to the fuel to the fire. And I just don’t GET twitter. I’m lucky I can work the internet at all, actually.

I am so curious about these! I’d love a brunette one — I’m just afraid my hair is too thin to work with one of these.

  16. Daniela says:

I’m a brunette and I’m scared my hair is too thick for one of these! As for twitter, I’d rather leave writing about what I ate for breakfast to 13 year olds.

  17. lorrwill says:

No socialnetworking2.0 for this old lady.
Also no stalkers, no pycho family members trying to drag me into drama, no future employer crossing me off the list for an unfortunate bit of over sharing, etc.

But I am pretty sure my hair is too short for on of these gizmos. Just had to explain why I will go to my grave as the last woman who does not twit her face off.

  18. ~M says:

Am I that dense? “Twist your hair into a bun and twist the pin in” is not actually an explanation. Can someone explain where you twist it? in the middle of the bun? on the bottom/top/side? Does the bun go in between the two parts?

  19. Lou says:

    Brunette, please.

I already follow you on FB, but I don’t want to post anything today. Why, you may ask (or not)? Today is my 45th birthday and I’m dodging all the well wishers on FB. I’m dodging ALL well wishers everywhere, in fact. lol. 45 kind of sucks, even if I do look younger and keep up with current styles (while trying to be appropriate for my age, ahem). So there ya go.

  20. Dr. Jean Grey says:

Thanks, M. Glad I’m not the only one who still doesn’t get it.

  21. Dr. Jean Grey says:

Okay, sorry for comment-hogging, but I finally found a good tutorial. Yes, you do screw them in, but you you have to grab hair inside the bun with every twist. Fast forward to like 2:30-2:45 here for the demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvhE75bxf2I

  22. Keri M. says:

I would love the brunette pair, please! These are sold out everywhere I go. Thanks!

  23. Kailee says:

Blonde please! Also following you on twitter! Love your blog!

  24. ~M says:

Thank you! Always ask a dr. If it really stays as well as everyone swears it does, that’s great because it has a nice, loose look to it.
I’d love a very, very pale blonde one.

  25. cafeconflores says:

I DO have FB and Twitter, but what I do NOT have is a brunette Goody Spin Pin. And I would love one to tame this raggedy growing-out-from-strange-short-hairstyle glop of mop I have on my head right now. Thanks for all you do, Belle. 🙂

  26. Lena says:

I need some spin pins because I just had a baby, and my hair only comes in two styles now – crusted with spit-up, or just-got-out-of-the-shower-and-baby-is-crying wet ponytail.

    Brunette, s’il vous plait.

  27. VS says:

This is just what I need for the DC heat and humidity right now. A brunette pin would be perfect! Thanks!

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
