Here Comes the Bride…

Jun 30, 2010

No, not me.  Don’t you read here regularly?  Don’t you know that I don’t date?  I’m talking about Miss M and her Independence Day nuptials.  And more specifically, what I have chosen to wear to said nuptials.

Robert Rodriguez Blush Dress (No Longer Available in Stores.)

Ta Da!  Over a year ago, I found this dress on the Nordstrom site and I coveted.  Hard core.  The problem was the $450 price tag and my complete lack of anywhere to wear it.  Thus, it slipped off to the Island of Fashion Regret never to be seen nor heard from again.  Until, last week when I found it on eBay for substantially less.

According to the Postal Service, it should arrive tomorrow afternoon.  At which point, I will tear it from the box, pray like a Dominican Nun that it fits and then try it on.  Should it not fit, it will be going up in the Resale Salon.  So if you’re a size 2 and you love this dress, keep an eye out.  If it does fit (please, please, please), I will finally be the proud owner of the perfect blush and black cocktail dress.  Stay tuned.

On a related note, I can’t believe that M is getting married.  But I fully intend to party like it’s 1999 this weekend, so please don’t expect any posts on Monday or Tuesday because I will be far too exhausted to make any sense until at least mid-week.  Consider yourselves warned.

Cute dress Belle! But bubble hem…?

  2. ALH says:

A friend of mine owns this dress! It’s adorable, BUT in person, it’s less “blush” and more “white.” Very cute either way. Seasonless and perfect for a wedding.

  3. Belle says:

That is a little frightening. I guess we’ll see when it arrives.

  4. Meghan says:

I love this blog. I read it daily. I love this dress. It looks like a white dress. Not a blush dress. A white dress. You can’t wear white to somebody else’s wedding. You aren’t the bride. It’s rude and tasteless. I don’t think you are either. Bad choice.

  5. Belle says:

Alright, no need for name calling. The photo to me looks light pink and black, if it shows up and it’s white, I will wear something else. I haven’t seen it in person yet, I don’t know. And frankly, I think Miss M is the final arbiter on what can and what can not be worn to her wedding.

  6. Shannon says:

It’s a gorgeous dress, here’s hoping it’s blush and not white so you can make a splash at Miss M’s wedding!

  7. O says:

Wear the dress, Belle! Who cares if it turns out to be more white than blush! It’s beautiful and will look lovely at the wedding…anyone who says otherwise is the “rude” one!

  8. Ms. B says:

    Fingers Crossed

  9. Elsie M says:

Looks pink to me as well. You’ll know when you open it, suspend anxiety until then! And what is it with weddings over July 4th weekend? I’m going to one as well.

  10. Belle says:

    So it’s pink, whew.

But it’s too tight in the hip. Thus begins the starvation diet. Just kidding, but there is a lot of treadmill in my future.

Nora Ephron was right: I feel bad about my neck. As I move through my forties, the creases have turned into chasms. The skin sags like a pair of sweatpants with aging elastic. It’s not great. But it’s just a natural part of getting older. Over the past year, it feels like I’ve tried every […]
