Five Closed Toed Flats for Summer

Jun 22, 2010

Last week, I tweeted the link to a Lucky Magazine story about closed toed shoes for Summer.  Unfortunately, as Holly Thomas later pointed out, only two pairs of shoes out of 17 were under $200.  Because I know that when I go to the store looking for a casual summer shoe, I’m fully prepared to spend at least a week’s pay.  Further proving that the twenty-something women who write for fashion magazines have little perspective on how much money real women have to spend on clothing.  So in an effort to restore some balance to the universe, here are five pairs of closed toe flats that you can actually afford.

Kalliste Printed Flat (Yoox, $77)

Steve Madden Kobbe Flat (Zappos, $70)

Gabrielle Rocha Neve (Zappos, $62)

Luxury Rebel Oxford (Bloomingdale’s, $77)

Poetic Lesson Jungle Fever ($79)

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
