When the beauty magazines and makeup mavens all agree that a product is fantastic, the best, the MOST-AMAZING-EVER, I get very skeptical. I’ve been burned before by products everyone else thought was awesome (Proactiv, DiorShow, Kiehl’s lip balm), s glowing recommendations always make me a bit nervous.
This is why it took me so long to try Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer.
Last week, my Mom and I went to the Nordstrom beauty counter for a little retail therapy while my Dad shopped for suits. My Mom has struggled to find a foundation that doesn’t settle into fine lines, so we headed over to the Laura Mercier counter to try something new. And let me tell you what, after the man at the cosmetics counter worked his magic, my Mother’s skin was so fresh and vibrant looking that it made her look ten years younger.
I was so impressed that last night, I purchased Laura Mercier’s Flawless Face Kit from Sephora just so I can have gorgeous skin like my Mom’s.
The kit is a great value at $65 because it contains everything you need to get started: primer, tinted moisturizer, under-eye corrector, concealer, translucent pressed powder, and all the tools that you need to ensure proper application.
Mercier also lets you choose the kit that is best for your skin type. The regular kit moisturizes dry skin, while the oil-free kit is best for acne prone skin like mine. And if there are any mineral makeup fans in the house, she has a mineral formula just for you.
Frankly, I think this product is perfect for the unpredictable, wet, humid weather that plagues Washington, D.C. And if you need any tips on how to apply the makeup properly in order to achieve the Laura Mercier Flawless Face, she has that all on her website.
Belle, are their options in the sets to get the correct shades to match your skin in addition to match your type of skin?
They offer two shades for the sets, but many more shades in the full size. The two shades are nude (standard white girl, works on my mom who is pale and also my light olive skin). Also sand (tan white girl, olive skinned girl, darker Asian girl).
I will speak to the powers of laura mercier’s tinted moisterizer. I’ve been using the oil-free version for I think about 2 years now and swear by it. It gives fabulous coverage and if i’m feeling a little pale in mid-february, I hit my cheeks and forehead with nars laguna bronzer. Add some dime-store masara and chapstick, and I look like a million bucks every morning without breaking the bank on fancy concealers, etc. Another plus is that a little goes a very long way, so the tubes last a good while.
I would recommend it to anyone.

Laura Mercier is a great product. I also find Bobbi Brown products to be great too. The corrector for under concealer is awesome and I have the worst dark circles. The trick with these products though is to use good brushes. I have used pretty much every single brand on the market and hands down, the Bobbi Brown ones are the best by far. They really give smooth application and I get compliments every day on how my makeup looks. The ones to try are the concealer (which can be used for both the corrector and concealer), powder, bronzer (you will find that the stores are usually out of stock on this one) and the blush brush. They are a little pricey but worth it. Also, MD Skincare makes an amazing tinted moisturizer which is probably the best I ever tried. It also has SPF 15 in it for a little extra protection.
