Expressions of Gratitude are Encouraged

Apr 16, 2010

Each day, I head home from my job as a Hill Staffer and turn on my MacBook to create all of the content that you enjoy here on CHS, surrendering my limited free time to the creation of three posts per day, five days per week, 50 weeks per year.

Being the editrix of Capitol Hill Style is a lonely and daunting task, but I have committed myself to providing quality content, peppered with snark and helpful fashion tips.  And what do I ask in return for all of this effort?

Not much.  Just your undying love, devotion and the occasional first-born child.

But all kidding aside, the voting for Washingtonian’s Best of DC contest began today and if every last one some of you could see fit to nominate your favorite pseudononymous fashion blogger (Belle of Capitol Hill Style) for “best local blogger,” I would be deeply appreciative. Plus, this is one of those rare cases where it would be an honor just to be nominated.

I know that some people consider begging for inclusion on such a list declasse.  To those people, I say: I work in politics, shameless self-promotion undertaken while campaigning for time in the limelight is what we do here.

So if you’re planning to vote for your favorite restaurant, watering hole or cupcake shop, and you happen to write “Belle from Capitol Hill Style” into the Best Local Blogger box, consider this my pre-emptive thank you.

Get out there and excercise your constitutional right to vote, Washington, D.C!  Oh…right Awkward.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
