Spring Florals for Work and Play

Apr 7, 2010

“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” –Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada

Revolutionary? No. Flirty and chic? Definitely.

Eliza J Pleated Floral Dress (Nordstrom, $128)

This dress takes a simple shape and adds a bold print.  With a bright print, you don’t want to add too much more color.  I would pair it with a white blazer or a simple cardigan and a brown belt.

Signett Floral Print Skirt (eDressMe, $136)

News Flash: Floral prints do not have to be pastels or bright colors.  In fact, some of the most interesting floral prints are done in black and white.  Take the skirt above, a cool abstract floral that has the versatility to wear it in the spring or in the winter with tights.

Shoshanna Strapless Floral-Print (Saks, $360)

If muted black and white is not thing, you can really go for the W and choose this punchy print.  Bright and fresh to the point of juicy.  So fun.

Halogen Pleated Skirt (Nordstrom, $78)

Simple, easy and classic this skirt is the perfect addition to any work wardrobe.  It’s also perfect for the weekend if you add a white tee and a flat sandal.

Carolina Herrera Floral Sheath (Neiman Marcus, $1,990)

What?  A girl can dream.

Most floral prints are small or medium size prints, this print is made up of a handful of giant flowers.  I prefer the larger flowers, but be careful about where the flowers are placed.  After all, no one wants a giant poppy highlighting her trouble zones.

JC Penney has a similar dress to the Carolina Herrera by Bisou Bisou. Just a thought. And I love these 🙂

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
