10th Commandment: April 1

Apr 1, 2010

So, I have a confession to make.  This weekend, I opened my mail to find that a local retailer had sent me a pair of velour track pants.  Because I had heard so much about how comfortable they are, I decided to give them a whirl.  And you know what?  I loved them.  Wore them all weekend, and even to an impromptu brunch at a neighbors apartment.  I have to say, I was wrong.

Yes, I was wrong.  Don’t gloat.

Elected Official

Cable Lounge Pants (Urban Minx, $128)

Hill Staffer

Lounge Jogger (Figleaves, $50)

Unpaid Intern

Old Navy Lounge Pant (Old Navy, $10)

April Fool’s.  Obviously.  Velour track pants?  Not even if the only other option was shearling lined flannel pants.

Okay, that’s twice in the last 15 minutes I’ve been gotten. Nicely done.

  3. sas says:

Phew! I almost fell out of my chair.

  4. Rachel says:

Well done! I am such a sucker.

  5. Ms. B says:

I nearly went into cardiac arrest! Don’t do that again! Got me.

  6. Chelsea says:

    Haha! Well done.

  7. Belle says:

Geez, I was really worried. I thought next you would reneg on your "Crocs should burn in hell" sentiment.

  8. Meg says:

I knew something was wrong when you said you wore them to brunch. EVEN IF YOU LIKE THEM, you don’t actually wear them places.

… except to take exams when in law school. I MEAN, WHAT?

  9. ~M says:

Ha! That’s where I started to question too, Meg. I stay in pajamas as much as possible when I’m home, but even I would throw on jeans to go next door to borrow a cup of sugar. I thought, surely, these were fancy sweatpants.

  10. PrepSchool says:

You absolutely got me. I mean, I was horrified, questioned weather I could ever return to the site, and then safe to say very relieved.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
