For a few years, I have been on a quest for the perfect red wedges. I wear a lot of navy in the springtime and I love the way red shoes pop when worn with a blue dress. But usually, I spend hours combing the Interwebs only to come up empty handed and vowing that next year, I will find the perfect red wedges.
Well, next year has finally arrived. And shock or shocks, I actually found two pair of red wedges that I am dying to own. This is an embarrassment of riches.
Initially, I was obsessed with these red lillybee wedges from Simply Soles ($165). I adore the little bows (cute, but not too frou frou) and the wooden stacked heel. How could you ever have a bad day while wearing these bright poppy-colored shoes? It would be nearly impossible.
These Me Too red patent wedges from DSW ($50) also caught my eye. I love the candy apply red, but what really has me intrigued is the padded insole and the rubber sole. Longtime CHS readers know that my personal shoe philosophy is that there is nothing better for comfort than a rubber sole.
Sure, it might not be considered the height of chic but until you’ve run across Independence Ave. chasing after a group of tourists who left their cell phones at your bosses office, you don’t get to judge me by the soles of my shoes. Plus, if you’re looking at the soles of shoes, I suggest you talk to a therapist ASAP.
Which pair will I choose? Well, I guess that all depends on whether my wallet (DSW) or my sense of whimsy (lillybee) wins this internal struggle. What is it the rappers say? Mo’ money, mo’ problems? Ah, choices.
I don’t like bows (eek!) but I love the other pair AND the Cole Haan pair!

The bow and wooded heel adds such a nice touch. I say spend a little extra and go for those. But both are so cute!
I slightly like the ones on the bottom better. As far as I’m concerned, comfort wins over style.

I LOVE the shoes with the bow. I’d say that these are an investment piece and are worth the added cost. I have a pair of wedges about that height with a wooden heel and they are surprisingly comfortable.

I’d have to vote for the Me Toos. I have a pair of Me Too pewter flats with rubber soles, and I LOVE them. Seriously, wear them everywhere. They are more comfortable than sneakers.
