The Floor Report: Miss M's Five Spring Must Haves

Mar 11, 2010

As the weather begins to creep into the 50’s (sad that I consider that warm), I always begin the long task of rotating my closet. Putting cozy sweaters and heavy boots into their rightful storage bins, and looking seeking out the must-haves for Spring.   Goodbye, chunk knits. Hello, cork wedges.

The New Cargo

Alice + Olivia Distressed Skinny Leg Cargos (Nordstrom, $230)

Cargos are back with a twist.  The style is not baggy like GI Jane, but clean, close to the leg, or even rolled up with a heel.  Joe’s Jeans has a pair that’s selling out already, and even J.Crew is rolling out what’s sure to be a spring staple.

The Perfect Hat

Floppy Brim Fedora (Shopbop, $130)

Bad hair days will be banished as Fedoras are topping heads everywhere. Perfect for poolside parties, nights out in the humidity, or a trip to the shore.  The floppy brimmed fedoras are cute and offer a bit more coverage from the sun.

Avian Inspired Jewelry

House of Harlow Peacock Necklace (Singer22, $110)

Peacock prints are so bohemian and full of color. Try this motif in scarves, graphic tees, or jewelry.  House of Harlow 1960 has some great pieces inspired by this beautiful bird.

Greige Nail Polish

You Don’t Know Jacques (OPI, $8)

Go grey  – and not just in your knits, but on your nails. The taupe and grey tones are popping up everywhere this season from M.A.C to Chanel, to OPI.

Platform-Sandal-Boots

Kelsi Dagger Karina Pewter Wedge (Piperlime, $125)

This season, my go-to shoe is going to be a platform sandal in a soft neutral color – 1 part cage shoe, 1 part gladiator, 1 part wooden heel or wedge, and hopefully a tiny bit comfortable and very versatile.  A girl can dream.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
