Spring 2010: Belle's Top Ten

Mar 10, 2010

This column was originally supposed to contain my Top Five Spring Must Haves, but as I searched the Interwebs for ideas it quickly morphed into my ten.  Clearly, I should not be allowed anywhere near a computer or my credit card for that matter.  But I digress, here are my Ten Spring Must Haves.

The Fun Work Shoe

Betsey Johnson Calandra Pumps (Nordstrom, $149)

These defy the three-inch high heel rule.  I care not.

The Cute Printed Flat

Lela Rose Printed Flat (Payless, $30)

Yes, they’re thirty dollars.  I will race you to the Metro Center Payless.

A Clutch That Doubles as a Purse

Rebecca Minkoff The Clutch (ShopBop, $330)

Having a large clutch that will fit into your handbag is the perfect thing to bring on trips.

 A Versatile Printed Blouse

Kyoto Medallion Blouse (Anthropologie, $188)

This blouse is perfect under a suit jacket or with a pencil skirt and sweater.  You could wear it with jeans too, if your boss will let you wear jeans to the office.  Mine won’t.

I’m not bitter, not bitter at all.

 A Nude Racerback Tank

Maggie Ward Tank (BunnyHug, 37 BP)

Having a nude tank will save your life.

A Structured Cardigan

Steam Trunk Cardigan (Anthropologie, $288)

This cardigan has a slight Chanel vibe which I like and will be perfect with a white tee and jeans or black pencil skirt.

The Combo Dress

Rebecca Taylor Metallic Tweed Dress (Neiman Marcus, $244)

I bought this at the Cusp sale, and I cannot wait to wear it!!!

The Striped Dress

Striped Wrap Dress (Kate Spade, $355)

How adorable is this dress?  It combines the nautical stripe with the seasons must-have color, grey.  Too precious for words.

 The Colored Trench

Doubled Breasted Trench Coat (Newport News, $69)

I have a khaki trench, so this season I am branching out.  I’m thinking fuschia.

 The Statement Ring

Judith Ripka Blue Quartz Ring (Saks, $450)

Talk about a statement.

I love the statement ring- I bought one myself on Monday, a vintage bloodstone signet, dating from 1900. Extremely affordable!

I always think it’s funny when people send rude or overly personal questions when I put […]

I love stocking stuffers.  They are the best part of Christmas.  There’s just nothing quite like an affordable gift that’s funny or useful or chic (or maybe all three).  So here is Part One of my stocking stuffer gift guides, where nothing costs more than $30.

You Have, You Need: Camel Sweater Edition

In the name of fiscal responsibility, I’m taking a shopping respite through the end of the year.  When you write a fashion blog, not shopping is like being a person on a diet who moves into a McDonald’s.  But I’m determined to flex some self-discipline now that my holiday shopping is done.

Add to Cart: Five Recent Amazon Purchases

Since my daughter was born, Amazon has claimed so much of my money that I had to buy stock just to get some of it back.  Between the formula, onesies, fruit pouches, diapers, wipes, and ever evolving list of baby development gear, I could not survive without Prime.   My husband no longer notices the […]
