I Worship Tammy Fender*

Dec 17, 2009

When I moved to D.C. in 2005, my skin took a turn for the worst.  Over the course of my first summer in the District, I developed deep, painful blemishes on my face that took weeks to heal if they healed at all.  For almost five years, I have had a large blemish under my left eye that just would not go away.  I consulted dermatologists, facialists and even a homeopath, but no one could kill the zit.  I tried Retin-A, Epiduo, Wonderbar and every over the counter acne treatment currently on the market, but nothing worked.

Last year, my search for a miracle cure  led me to an Allure magazine article about Tammy Fender beauty products.  The magazine raved about the Florida based company and their skincare products derived from high quality, natural ingredients.  Their recommendation of Tammy Fender was so glowing, that I immediately ordered a Tammy Fender sample pack that contained a two week trial of four products for just $12.

I loved the products, but when my samples ran out, the cost of the full-size products was too much for this Hill Staffer’s salary.  Then three weeks ago, I discovered a Tammy Fender sale on The Skinny and decided to give the products another try.  After all, $42 for two ounces of Clarifying Dermagel sounded a lot better than $72.

Long story short, Tammy Fender products work miracles.  This morning, for the first time in five years, I didn’t have to apply concealer to the blemish under my eye because there was no blemish under my eye.  The thick, swollen skin has been replaced by smooth, mostly healed skin that will (God willing) be completely healed by the New Year.

This may not seem like a big thing to some of you, but it’s a big thing to me.  For every one of the last 1,655 days, I have looked in the mirror and seen nothing but the giant, red lump under my eye and now it’s gone.  And that is a Christmas miracle that four dermatologist, six estheticians, three facialists and one homeopath failed to make happen.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a Christmas Miracle.

*I know this is a violation of one of the big Ten, but I don’t care. She is a goddess, and I bow down.

    loved the products.

This is certainly a big thing to me! I too struggled for years with a red swollen blemish under my left eye. Only one doctor was able to help me with several shots of cortisone right to the blemish…painful. Every now and then, I do have a flare up in the same area. I will definitely get this product. Thank YOU!!!!

My skin has also taken a turn for the worst since moving here. Any specific products of hers that you recommend for acne prone skin?

  4. Belle says:

I ordered the clarifying dermagel and the antioxidant creme with neroli and orange. They then graciously included samples of their purifying cleansing gel and the essential c tonic.

I would say definitely the dermagel. Also the cleansing gel and/or tonic. The neroli was to help balance out an uneven spot in my complexion.

  5. JB says:

One cause of acne is also milk products. Many adults are allergic to dairy, which often causes acne. Products definitely can help, but I’ve learned that diet is even more crucial to fighting it. Maybe try staying away from milk products for awhile .. 🙂

  6. Z says:

I agree, eliminating diary-based products will help to clear your skin and prevent future breakouts. I did so, and now have blemish-free skin, but I did have to use products to help clear up my acne scars even it out. I havent tried Tammy Fender's products, but I am curious from reading your article.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
